Rare, profound, intimate

Some critics have worked hard to come up with things they did not like about The Life of Pi. The story touches upon religions, but does not probe deeply and it does not come up with any conclusions. The story uses a contrived device of the old Pi telling his experience to a journalist. The story is exciting in the middle, and not remarkable anywhere else. These criticisms seem rubbish to me. It is like watching Gone With the Wind and complaining that the Tarleton Twins did not really look like brothers. The Life of Pi is so unlike any other movie, and so beautiful to look at, it does not have to apologize to anybody. It can be described so simply -- A boy at sea is trapped on a raft with a tiger. He has to figure out how to make the best of it. That is just what it is. The profundity past a certain point must come from us. There is real beauty in the world, and in the ocean. And there is death and suffering. We are bound to taste both. Think of that!

Very visual storytelling because Claudio is a very expressive visual artist. I loved seeing it. I also loved what some didn't care for, the story ambiguities. It lets your imagination fill in parts and that makes it all the more entertaining. 3D done well. Totally worthy of your time in the theater. See you there!

A moving story, Life of Pi blends fantasy and reality with great sensitivity and creativity. The acting by Irfan Khan and Suraj Sharma is touching and real. Ang Lee shows how large the scope of his creativity and sensitivity is. The use of 3D enhances the emotional impact, so this movie should be enxperienced in 3D. This is a great family movie.

Life of Pi Visit #2

This movie is amazing. If you haven't seen it... you NEED to see it! It will tug at your heart strings and amaze you visually. The story is fantastic! If you don't have at least a heavy feeling in your chest or at least one tear... I'm pretty sure you're dead inside. Wonderful story of Love, Loss, Survival, Discovery, Courage and Imagination. This is the second time I've seen it in theaters... I took even more away from it with me the second time... and I may go again. The only other movie I visited more than twice in the theaters was Avatar. Just saying... its an amazing movie! Go See It!

Life of Pi

I loved this movie--I loved the story, the way it's told, and the creativity of the filming and touches of fantasy. The tiger burns bright and is terribly scary, so don't think it would be right for children under 8--but I encourage everyone else to see it.
