Les Miserables
Incredible adaptation of the stage production, yet not at all the stage production. Anne Hathaway and Hugh Jackman are both amazing. Russell Crowe was very disappointing as Javert. The major difference between this and a staged production is that this is a very "raw" production. Rather than "beautiful" singing, these performances are ... as I said, "raw." Hathaway's "I dreamed a dream," is such a visceral and in your face reflection of hopelessness, that if you aren't brought to tears, you have no soul! The close up filming of the actor's faces as they sing draws you in to their pain, love, resignation and triumph. YOU MUST SEE THIS MOVIE!
