Not the books, but beautiful and sweet
My son and I have been reading this book series for the past few months. We have fallen in love with the characters that have been brought to life on the pages before us. As with most "based on book" movies - this attempt is barely able to scratch the surface of the depth and breadth of this wonderful book series, The movie is able to capture, the book's overarching themes of faith & service, passion & purpose,& love & loyalty, but not nearly to the degree with which I would have hoped. Though, I do feel that , as far as movies go, this one is worth the price of the 3D imagery - this movie is quite beautiful and does agree with the "movie in our minds" that my son and I had already developed. Furthermore, the heroic storyline that all of us can identify with is one worthy of praise - in the end.... we all want to believe that good will always triumph over evil, and this movie leaves the viewer celebrating that notion. So go see it and enjoy... ages 7&up. Then read the books!!!
