  • Must Go!

    Beyond My Expectations.

    by thaeds

I went to this movie expecting something horrible where the IMAX wasn't important and was only incorporated in a few scenes with bad dialogue and acting; however, this certainly was not the case. I admit; I did not care for it at first and the only reason I did partake in going to it was because I had nothing better to do or to watch, and thus my expectations of it were not high. I am proud to see that this movie has proved me wrong, and that I fully enjoyed myself. The IMAX perhaps enhanced the already amazing quality of the movie, and while the battle scenes were not like Lord of the Rings or Harry Potter, they certainly were satisfactory with their animation and choreographing.

Overall, I suggest going to this movie if you want to have your mind blown away. It had a serious tone, certainly, but also had humor integrated into it.

Certainly better than Avatar in storyline and visuals.

It is kind of a movie about the good and the bad.

you might have to watch it a second time, because some of it is confusing.

I don't know if it is good for kids, because it shows a lot of brutality.

Your eyes will be in awe; your mind, not so much

This film, the first animated CGI effort by Zac Snyder, is sure to keep you entertained through to the end, even if you find the story lacking--which it is. With the benefit of a better script, and another 30 or 60 minutes of additional footage, this could have been an epic for the ages, unfortunately it feels very rushed at times, with underdeveloped characters and one very poor song choice that really pulled me out of the film. DEFINITELY spring for the IMAX 3D on this one... I've seen dozens of IMAX showings in the last 3 years alone, and none have executed it this perfectly. Legend of the Guardians is just pure beauty at this resolution and the 3D effects, as with a lot of animated films, is used to great effect. I would rank How to Train your Dragon (both in story and use of 3D) slightly above this one, but it is a MUST SEE. I would not bring any child under 7 though, there are some echos of The Secret of NIMH here that may make the smaller kids frightened.
