Splendid broadcast! Colors vivid, wonderful clarity of music, terrific angle shots.
Few in the audience had seen the full-length Le Corsaire. It's long 3 1/2 hours with two 25 minute intermissions. The story is simple but compelling and can appeal to all.
Each act is fully a story with different dancing/acting than the others. Superb folk dancing in first act balanced with fight scenes and ballet in the second and such drama in the third with always the principal ballerina weaving her magic throughout. The two principal men are very handsome and well-cast to juxtapose each other. The costumes, original to this production, are marvellous from the turbaned Pasha through the court eunuchs, the fool, the pirates, the villagers, the ballerinas; the men are resplendent in kilt-like skirts and boots.
The sets are picturesque especially the cave and pasha's palace harem quarters
Among the gigantic cast, plendid to to see the children, adolescents, teens at the start of their careers.

Loved the movie! The production was magnificent and the dancers the best I have ever seen. My only suggestion to make the experience better would be that when the screening is an encore showing and not a live screening, perhaps the intermissions could be shortened or eliminated entirely. Two 25 minute intermissions were hard to sit through. I am definitely planning on attending the next production. Please continue to present ballets and operas. I am sure that when the word gets out regarding this opportunity to see great performances that the number in the audiences will greatly increase.

My wife and loved this performance. This medium is the ideal way to see ballet, and possibly also some live theater productions. We look forward to seeing more.

If you love ballet but don't get to see much of it in person, this is the next best thing. The theater is cool, dark, and quiet (because parents generally don't take crying babies or talkative kids to see ballet) and the music and sets are beautiful. Watching the ballerinas takes you to another world . . . if only for three hours. As I said, if you can't see it in person . . . GO.
