    La Vie en Rose

This is a biopic about Edith Piaf (Marion Cotillard, in an Oscar - winning role). It tells about her amazing story to sing. When she was little, Edith's mom sung to make money on the city streets. Her father abandoned her and her mom when Edith was a baby to join a circus. One day her father comes back for her. She is forced to travel with her dad.
Her dad quits the circus and travels to a town in France. There, her and her friend stret perform to make money. A man sees her and asks her to sing at his restaurant. Evereyone likes her. From there she tries to improve her career.
This is a moving French film (subtitles are vital unles you know French) and I highly reccomend it.

One of the best performances I've seen in a long time!!

     by  Miss-Paige

What a spectacular performance by Colliard. She is why I give this film the highest rating. Otherwise I felt, although the film was good - it wasn't great ... rather long and draggy at times ... too much time jumping ... needed better editing but still worth seeing, Marion Colliard definitely gives an amazing performance ... perhaps one of the best I've ever seen.

    OMG!!!! BEST MOVIE EVER!!!!!!!!!!!

     by  Movie-Guru-Fo-Shooru

This movie has to be the best movie I have ever seen. When determining how good or bad a movie is, I look at the main character. In this case it's Edith Piaf, played by Marion Cotillard (LOVE HER!!!). You look at Marion Cotillard in real life, her mannerisms in interviews, her voice, the way she is, and then you look at her in character as Edith Piaf and you can't believe that's her. When an actor has completely transformed themselves for a role that you don't even recognize them? That's acting. She has done some of the best acting I have ever seen. Definitely deserved the Oscar. And every award she has received. See the movie! See the movie!!

I tried to get my mom to see it, but she doesn't like sad movies. Don't let your distaste for dramas make you miss out on the chance to see superb acting! By the way, Edith Piaf is amazing as well. Her music is beautiful. Downloaded a bunch of her songs.

    ACADEMY AWARD NOMINEE

     by  venemiami

A very hard story told in an amazing way by the director OLIVIER DAHAN who should be nominated for his great job in this film, in the same way MARION COTILLARD must be called to compete for an OSCAR for her extraordinary role in the movie. She carries the story all the time. I will give nominations also for best COSTUME DESIGN and ART DIRECTION. Worth to watch.

umm... i'm pretty sure it never ended

it was hard to follow because it jumped sequence a lot. it seemed like it dragged on and on and we kept wondering when it would end. we were the only three in the theater so we were yelling "THE END" after every cut scene.

    Superb Cotillard Makes "La Vie"

I was so happy to find this film playing in a city that art films often find no home in that I ran out the first night to see it. I was not disappointed. Fans of Edith Piaf will cherish this very non-American bio-pic of her life.
On the other hand, not a good date movie. I overheard one young woman saying to her escort, "Sorry....!" He responded, "Well, it was unique."
Marion Cotillard deserves all the acclaim she has received for this role. She absoultely inhabits it. I was reminded so poignantly at times of the parallels between Piaf and Judy Garland, especially during the on-stage and backstage scenes.
If your city, like mine, needs more of these films, see it to support them.

    Beautiful movie

This is one of the most beautiful movies I have ever seen. What a film! Marion Cotillard was a master, definitely acadamy award winning performance. Her acting was so passionate, so deep, so brilliant. I was very moved and impressed by the artistic excellence in all areas of the film. The makeup was extraordinary, the music, direction, camera work, all great. Must see this intense and brilliant film.
