Metropolitan Opera La Traviata

An absolutely fantastic production on a stark backdrop with mainly black and white color palate, Violetta as the sole color spot. The three main characters were perfect, incredible voices, singing and acting, and the cinema sound was excellent.. We loved it so much we went right home and bought tickets for Wagner's Ring Cycle playing over the next two weeks.

Having seen many of the Live in HDopera, I'd rate this one lower than most due to lack of visual interest. Singing was great, but the sets, costumes & staging were boring.

Wonderful, outstanding and a must see and hear. Voices were marvelous, acting super and sets innovative. I give it an A plus.

10 minutes into last night's Encore performance of La Traviata and I knew I was in for probably the worst night of performance in my life. The ultra-modern set with a single white sofa held no interest whatsoever, and the modern dress of the performers in this production was thoroughly off-putting. And I had to endure this for 3 hours! Truly god-awful!

I've been wanting to see a Met opera for sometime and this did not disappoint. I thought the modern staging would be off putting but I really enjoyed it.
