Told with plentiful flashbacks to illumine their history, this Cuban tale tells the story of several Cuban-Haitians from among the tens of thousands who immigrated there in the 1940s in order to earn money to send back home to Haiti. After a while, they were unable to return, and were too poor to live well where they were. Pedro is a second generation Haitian who fought for the Cuban Revolution. His friend Ariston, who fought by his side, retains his native Haitian beliefs and ultimately dies for them. ~ Clarke Fountain, Rovi
