FUNNIER THAN THE HANG OVER (and I loved the hangover)

Before I begin this let me say that I am an award winning college filmmaker and an avid movie goer.

I went into LOTL with little expectations thinking it would be another chance for Will Ferrell to prove he still is funny. If you did not like STEP BROTHERS then I suggest you stop reading this review now. Just like Step Brothers this movie BLEW ME OUT OF THE WATER. My sides hurt I was laughing so hard. I left the movie thinking that LOTL might have actually possibly been funnier than that of The Hangover. Will Ferrell is absolutely hilarious and his co star Danny McBride is possibly just as funny as Ferrell.

Now mind you that I had very little interest in the original Land Of The Lost and knew barely any thing about it. This movie is perfect for teens and up...it is not a little kids movie.

    Good or Bad?

When I saw the previews for this movie, it looked really funny. Even my family wanted to see it. That's when I made my mistake. I thought that this movie would be farely clean. I was wrong. It's Will Ferell, he's going to be innapropiate, he's going to be fowl. It's the way he does humor. Did you ever see him on SNL?

I considered it a pretty funny movie. I laughed through the whole thing. I didn't laughed uncontrollably, but it was funny. Now, I'v read several reviews here and some of them say, "It's horrible! Don't waste your money!" "Worst movie ever!" and others, "Best movie of the year!" "I can't wait till it comes out on DVD!" OBVIOUSLY, you really don't know what you're going to get when you go to see this movie. There people out there who like crude humor, and there are people out there who like clean family fun humor. My advice, if you like Will Ferell and crude humor, go see it. If you don't, don't waste your money or wait till it comes out on DVD.

Save your money, dont see this movie. I'm a big Will Ferrell fan but this was just horrible. Very stupid and pointless.

    Reviewers are confused!

I am amazed at how so many of the negative reviews for this movie start with something like "I am not Will Ferrell fan." I have only one question for these folks...why did you go to a Will Ferrell movie then?? Afterall you wouldn't order a chicken sandwich at a restaurant and then complain in a review that it didn't taste like steak!!

If you don't know what you're getting with Will Ferrell by now, you never will!! Will does low brow, slap stick, double entendre type comedy with hits and misses along the way. If you went thinking you're were going to see a "Best Actor" or "Best Movie" nominee you are a sad, sad person.

Finally got around to it and it was hilarious!

This movie was seriously funny. I laughed throughout the entire movie. There was just some funny off the wall stuff and it was well scripted to make you laugh. I exited the theater in a great mood having had a fun time. I took my roommate who did not really want to see it and she was pleasantly surprised and thought it was hilarious as well. I watched the original series as a child and my roommate had never seen an episode and we both loved it. When it is available on dvd, I willl be adding it to my collection.

Incredibly stupid fun in a movie

Ok, number one, this movie was based off a TV show created by stoners for kids. Number two this movie stars Will Ferrell and Danny McBride. Number three it's rated PG13, NOT PG.

Keeping all those things in mind you already know it will be more stupid than introspecitve, it will have as little of a plot as the TV show and IT'S NOT FOR YOUNG KIDS!!!! So everyone complaining about anything covered by the above, go see another movie and shut up.
However, if you want to laugh at things that make absolutely no sense and jokes that a 13 year old could have written delivered deadpan by Kenny Powers, I mean Danny McBride, then go see this, suspend your disbelief and enjoy it. If you're not laughing, you're probably dead or even more stupid than the jokes and you just didn't get them. You also have Anna Friel in a tank top and short shorts...even more reason to see it.

    Good movie

What part of PG-13 don't you people understand!?!?! It means for teenagers not for little ten year olds!
The movie was good and it had some funny parts and some not so funny parts. I heard alot of people complaining about the swearing because they had little kids there. What do you expect a PG-13 movie to have??? If you want a movie for them go to walmart and get spongebob or something! Grow a brain people.

PARENTS!!! DOESN'T EVEN COME CLOSE TO BEING A FAMILY MOVIE!!!!

THIS IS NOT A MOVIE FOR KIDS. R - RATING WOULD BE MORE APPROPRIATE. Lots of bad language throughout, tons of adult humor.I took my 3 young boys to see this as they are dinosaur fans and left feeling like the worse mother on the planet. Lets see, my 7 year old only seems to recall the weird monkey constantly grabbing the "pretty" girls boobs, my 9 year old keeps repeating "Matt Lauer can Suck it" and informed me he thought the part where they say (over and over) "tap that ***" was hilarious, my 6 year old inquired during the movie why they called the dinosaur a P*s*y - and asked me what did that mean! (I said, Honey I have NO idea :) ) I would have found those moments in the movie funny had I not had my kids there. Seemed like a family movie by the previews. My fault for not researching it more first - I learned my lesson. Also, I never watched the show so I had zero expectations. Overall, a funny movie worthy of more than a few laughs - but for the grown up crowd.

    Not neccessarily for kids

I am mid 40's so I grew up knowing Land of the Lost. I hesitated to go because Will Ferrall can be so crude. That he was. I told my 14 year old and a few friends. Many other kids were there and many 5-10. Will F. dropped the f-Bomb once which made me angry because there we kids in the theatre. They could have left that out. The sexual inuendos were many and most in bad taste.
I do have to say, I did laugh more than I expected to. The actor that played the Will character was on all the time which made it entertaining. I would not have children under 13 see it.

I'm not sure what movie some of you saw but this film was awesome!! It was everything I expected and more.Fans of the original series should love this film. I'm not even a huge Will Farrell fan but he really delivers in this movie.

funniest movie of the year so far.

Ofcourse it's going to be way different then the TV show, its rated PG-13.
And they are totally different characters then the original TV show, with different personalities.
I LOVED this movie, it was very interesting and had so many laughs, including Will Ferrel just being his goofy, lovable self.

    Terrible Movie!

One of the worst movies I ever saw. We all got up a walked out and noticed other parents leaving too. I noticed a lot of other reviews saying that the crude and sexual humor was over their kids heads. Oh please wake up parents...kids understand much more than we think. And how sad that we are so desparate for entertainment that we would sit with our kids through a movie filled with filth.
This movie was nothing like the tv. show . Save your money..or better yet Go See UP!

Land of the Lost - One Singular Sedation

Mom's know they're doomed if they have a tween, because dads get to go to all the good action/adventure flicks. We're left with the dregs and an occasional sprinkling of rare cinematic gems. This was not one of them. A PG-13 rating is highly misleading. It should be rated IA-30, for Immature Adult, which is very different from an emerging adolescent with potential. The film?s played out one-liner, touted for the gay and metro-sexual communities is an insult to all sophisticated sensibilities. Fortunately, it passes over your tween's head, as does other smutty innuendo. However, even if you do like Will Ferrell, you won?t in this clumsy, bumbling faux-Indiana Jones, Dr. Rick Marshall. He is scarfed up into a space-time vortex with his attractive assistant Holly and a clever redneck named Will. There are some amusing tidbits, such as their only ally Chaka and lively interviews with an irate Matt Lauer. I left the theatre hailing Matt Lauer and wishing the interviews were real.

    Land of the Lost

This movie was hilarious! I loved it, however, not appropriate for children. I laughed from beginning to end! Thank you for a good show worth the full price! If you watched the classic Land of the Lost than you would appreciate this new spin on it. Excellent show.

    Funny!

I busted out laughing at this movie several times. A few parts of it made you wonder, but it helps to have grown up with or have seen on DVD the original Land of the Lost series that the movie is based on. Go back after the movie and see how many references to episodes of season 1 there are in the flick. There are plenty! A funny movie that is worth the money!
