The opera was great! The whole cast was good. The Actress who played Marie was very enjoyable, it was fun watching her in the beginning scenes, folding and Ironing. She was funny. I found myself smilling and laughing almost through the whole thing. This HD Experience is great, because you get to see the set for the next act and the actors behind the scenes. And you also get a full view of the conducter and his orchestra. This was my first opera, but I deffinately would do this again.

It was absolutely the BEST HD Metropolitan opera movie we have seen this year!
HOWEVER, we thought that the screen projection was DARK. Perhaps this was the fault of local projection settings rather than the movie itself.
WHAT A GREAT PERFORMANCE BY Natalie Dessay! She was an incredible singer and comedian. What energy. The tenor, Jan Diego Flores, was also wonderful.
We were blown away!!!!!!!
We will plan to see everyone of the upcoming 11 operas for this and next year's schedule!
We were very lucky to get seats. Lots of people who did not reserve in advance were turned away!
Thank you, Fandango

Absolutely beautiful production with two fantastic lead singers and all supporting singers excellent as well. It was a fresh new take on an old master, and I loved every minute of it!

I found this HD version of La Fille du Regiment to be radiant and thoroughly enjoyable. The standard of acting was excellent in the principal roles. Juan Diego Florez is destined for a brilliant career. He has it all - a magnificent voice, acting ability, and he's very handsome. Natalie Dessay was wonderful in the title role. She is a very natural comedienne and has a fine voice that's capable of the vocal gymnastics required in bel canto operas such as those by Donizetti. Felicity Palmer won us over with her worldly portrayal of the Baronness. I was thoroughly captivated by this performance. What a treat it is to have Renee Fleming to comment upon the proceedings and to ask intelligent questions of the performers and production staff!
What a privilege it is to have live transmission of these Met performances in theaters in our area! I'm also glad to see that the series is being expanded each year.

Although the sound reproduction, in the Regal Cinema Theater in which I viewed this performance, wasn't as good as it has been for previous Met HD simulcasts this season, this specific production was still VERY enjoyable and entertaining. Natalie Dessay, as Marie, is truly a gifted comic actress, and Felicity Palmer's acting, as the Marquese Berkenfield, was also quite commendable. Juan Diego Flores' Tonio was, in contrast, somewhat "stiff" in the acting category, but he certainly handled those 9 high C's, and the 1 high D-flat effortlessly! Right-on, To' !!!!
