    My Girls Loved It!

My four daughters (yea - four!) ages 10, 9, 8, and 5 loved this movie. As a parent, I liked it too. It is a good story well portrayed with a message that is positive for young children. Definately more of a girl movie - young boys probably won't want to be seen there - but, if you have a daughter or two, you should go. Of course, now my girls want American Girl Dolls (TM) for Christmas. Have you seen the prices on these things?! Yikes!

It is the best movie I have seen this year. It was very exciting, funny, and sweet. I will go see it again and purchase it when it comes out on DVD.

    Kit Kittridge an American Girl

This was a very enjoyable movie! One the whole family could go to!!! It was entetaining as well as historically accurate. It gave a birds eye view of what life was like during the Depression. It also kept you wondering "Who Did It?"

    Excellent Family Movie

Kit Kittredge is an excellent family movie. I (age 40) took my two daughters (ages 11 and 6) , my 9 year old nephew and my 83 year old mother to see it, and it held everyone's attention from start to finish.

There was plenty of G-rated adult humor to keep the older set entertained, in fact, I heard a lot of laughter from the adults in the audience throughout the film. I was a little worried that it would be too "girly" for my nephew, but to my surprise it wasn't and he really seemed to enjoyed it. It ws great for my mother because it was a time (late 1930's) that she lived in, and could relate to the scenery, cars, music, you name it.

The story has plenty of moral value (which is lacking in so many films now adays), and plenty of star power. Not only Abigail Breslin, but Chris O'Donnell, Julia Ormond, Joan Cusack, Stanley Tucci, and more. I can't believe this film didn't get more press. I highly recommend it!

Will be a must own on DVD too!

This is a great movie set in some sad times. Deals a lot with the depression and how it affected the children and the families. Very well acted and a good plot. My daughter really enjoyed it and it was quality father - daughter time.

Fun to see a doll brought to life

Sweet little movie. Thanks to Abigail Breslin it's much better than it ought to be. Ms Breslin brings spunk and energy to the roll of Kit a ten year old aspiring reporter. She creates a very likeable character carrying what otherwise would have been a very silly movie. The plot is a little too simple even for it's young target audience. Still, it seemed that most of the tween viewers really enjoyed watching their favorite doll brought to life. The audience roots for Kit as she tries to save her home from forclosure. Watching the characters lose their jobs, homes, and cars as a result of the depression felt hauntingly similar to the same economic problems many American families are confronting today. However, the family's can do attitude is refreshing. Dad reminds Kit, "don't let it beat you." An excellent piece of advice as good now as it was in 1930. By all means go and take your daughter.

    An american girl and dream.

This movie was great for my 10 year old daughter to see. It is so much better quality and has higher standards than the movies with teens half dressed and being disrespectful. This movie shows that it is cool to have morals, use your brain and not your body, and help out your fellow man. This movie was great!

I took my grandaughter and neice to see this movie. The 3 of us enjoyed it. The two girls had just learned about the "depression" in school therefore the movie made sense to them. They really liked Kit and the role she played. Thank you for good, whoesome movies that every generation can view and enjoy!

    ***My Daughter Loved it!***

    by KSinVA

My 6-year old daughter loves American Girl dolls, and she got the Kit doll for her birthday. My wife and I took her and her younger brother to see the film, and she absolutely loved it. My son (3 and a half) was a little bored with the movie. My daughter was all smiles after the movie. The story had some predictability to it (as it should given the target audience). I liked that it had my daughter asking questions about being poor, the Great Depression, etc.

The film is a niche movie...good wholesome family entertainment.

    My Favorite Movie!

    by JuneOne

My daughter and I thoroughly enjoyed this realistic, historical and eye-opening movie. My 10 year old daughter's quote: "This is my favorite movie!" It was entertaining from beginning to end and very well done. Today's economic times hit home a bit with the Depression in the 1930s.

    Refreshing

With a company like American Girl where the dolls cost $100 each, I think it was surprising to see a movie released by them about appreciating what you have and not judging others for what they don't have.

It was a great experience for my daughter and me (she is 7) to see such a heartwarming film about a time her greadparents lived through but she knows so little about. I would definately recommend seeing it to anyone...just make sure your child is mature enough to sit through a NON action movie.

We need more films like this!

What a wonderful movie for the whole family! It was true to the spirit of the books and an entertaining movie that both adults and children can appreciate and enjoy. How ironic that many of the issues of the depression (home foreclosures, parental job loss etc.) are issues that todays young children are having to deal with because of today's economy. This movie can be a springboard for children and parents to discuss these themes thoughtfully both as a look back at history and in terms of the current events of today. Kudos to Julia Roberts for starting the American Girl movies. We want more!

The movie was excellent for all ages. Abigail did a fine job with her character and the supporting actors kept story moving. It was a good depiction of the depression, attitudes of the town, and the realization that we need to help each other. It is one of the best movies i have seen this year
