    GOOD MOVIE-lOUSY ENDING

    by BCR123

loved the movie until the last scene. Another example of a director outhinking himself. He must have consulted with Oliver Stone (see Savages) and they both agreed to create the worst ending to a movie ever so they could mutually ruin their latest shows. The ending almost ruined the whole show because it was such a let down. Stop outthinking yourselves Hollywood. Dont need these ridiculous endings to very good movies. See Pulp Fiction if you dont understand how to end a movie. The end of that movie fit in perfectly with the entire show. Would have been a must go if not for the crappy ending.

    Killer Joe should be killed

    by kim1040

This was absolutely the worst movie I have seen in a long time. The description left out foul language, nudity, crudity, pedophilia, domestic violence, violence......Total waste of money and time.

    Killer Joe

The worst movie I have ever seen! And to rate it as a comedy? What a sick joke! Lost all respect for Matthew. Took my friend for his birthday thinking it would something to laugh at and we were all disgusted. We would have walked out but were were waiting for a funny part. I sit through all movies but if I had to do go through that again I would definitely walk out. Wish I could get my money back!

    Good tragicomedy!

It has a very sadistic humor, you don't know if you should close your eyes on those shocking scenes or laugh until death at the same moment. But at the end, I really liked it!

    Killer Joe

What a movie! Really liked it although it is not for everyone. Well written characters and actors who know what they are doing. The script is great and despite the "uncomfortable" moments (they are no worse than the ones in the mass audience-targeted audience at Saturday matinees). Mathew McConaughey has finally found his acting chops--really good as are all the others.

WARNING: Not for everyone and adults only

This movie is like watching a super cell (storm) bearing down on a rustic collection of inhabited rural huts. No matter how unspeakable the outcome is bound to be, one knows from the opening scenes that the worst may quite possibly be creppier than one might imagine. Some might call this pornography of the usual variety but by dint of violence surely. However, the story arc is served by the pure evil depicted and is necessary to set up the blackest humor ever filmed and exhibited on a public movie screen. Above all, even though the urbane, affluent Upper West Side audience in New York seemed uncertain whether to laugh, that question was soon resolved with hoots and gales of unbridled belly guffawing; applause at the end. Guilty? Yes. Avoidable? No. NOT for the faint of heart or easily offended. The leads are perfect. The directing by a name brand? Flawless. Top notch writing. One last warning, if you like linear storytelling with a calming resolution, this is not for you.

    LOVE THIS MOVIE!!!!!!!!!!!

    by NYCbuff

Talk about stupid idiots and trailer trash! Gina Gershin and Mathew McConahey were FANTASTICK. You will laugh your *** off at how stupid these criminals are. Great performances but not for the kids. NC-17 rating because of nudity and I mean FULL FRONTAL both men and women....

    like violence?

    by dpbrew

I read some positive fan reviews and we gave it a try. Well, there are a few laughs like the chicken leg scene, but this is all about stupid people, wicked people, and violence. Sound good? then go see it. Even though it's a different role for Matthew McConaughey, his Texas persona reminded us of his role in Bernie.

    Better as a stage play

I was lucky enough to see a local production of the stage play and Killer Joe worked a lot better in that medium. Opening the action up out of the trailer dissipated some of the squalid comedy. Performances in the movie were darned good, especially Gershon, Hirsch and Temple. McConaughey didn't bring enough humor or looniness to the title part, but he sure was intense. Haden Church did his thing, which is always pretty entertaining.

    Hot afternoon, poor movie

    by Normcal

The worst movie ever. The theme, buried in the pile, was stupid, the scenes nonsensical. Go buy a Hustler if you want pictures. Thanks to the theater on Senior day as I only wasted 4.50.

Non-stop thrills. Twits and turns galore.

    by

This movie was awesome. Be prepared for murder, blood, nudity and laughs. Yes. laughs! It reminds me of the Reese Witherspoon movie 'Freeway'. If you dont mind any of the above listed warnings then you will enjoy this movie.Weird sexual situations also. You will be on the edge of your seat the entire movie wondering what is going to happen next.

    Killer Joe

    by mimi28

I understant the art of dark comedy. This film fails at it because it is filled with degradation and abuse of women. Among other things. I am sorry I saw it. It ruined my week end. Whatever interest I had in Matthew McConnaghey has been completely and utterly snuffed out.

A VIOLENT, BRUTAL PORTRAIT OF EVIL. IF YOU LIKED THE PLAY, THE FILM WILL NOT DISAPPOINT.

Based on the play by Tracy Letts, director William Friedkin has remained religiously faithful to this ragingly, raunchy, raw rendition of a family pushed to the edge; options dead, every action a reaction; trailer park trash painfully vitalized and depicted by compelling acting...

Matthew McCaughey is brilliant as "Killer Joe", an amoral lawman for murderous hire. Emile Hirsch is smarmy, stupid "Chris" a twenty-two year old drug dealer, conjuring his financial salvation by hiring Joe to kill his mother for her life insurance. Thomas Haden Church ("Sideways") is "Ansel" the clueless, guileless, gullible father of Chris, duped into duplicity. Gina Gershon as "Sharla", (Chris's stepmother and wife of Ansel) oozes cunning sexuality from every pore, her salty, salacious demeanor forecasts a tide of tribulation...

    TWO & 1/2 STARS!!

Raw And Violent But A Worthwhile Film.

There's been a lot of controversy surrounding this film and its having received an NC17 rating. Frankly, I see hundreds of movies in theaters annually all around the world. It's what I do. I guarantee you the rating system is skewed when this film gets branded X and those like Adam Sandler's recent kiddie porn, "That's My Boy," Quinten Tarantino's ultra violent "Machete," and Oliver Stone's quintesential gore fest, "Natural Born Killers" all passed muster with an R. Yes, it's violent, yes there's frontal nudity and overt sexuality, yes there's questionably inappropriate language. Still, were it not for the wider distribution this film was denied due to this rating, I'd think it was a hype tool to put butts in the seats. As for the film itself, it's a must see. The script is solid, well produced and filmed, and the cast turn in excellent performances. It's for adults though. Other than that, it's well worth its ticket price. See it. You won't be disappointed.

KJayInStereo Mud was great. Still liked Matty M in Killer Joe better, but the two boys (Ellis and Neckbone) were phenomenal.
