Whoops! I fell into a big deep hole!
It's really amazing how quickly a story can go from lonely dejected professor in an earth sciences lab at a small university to the center of the earth! However, this story doesn't really give you time to think about how unrealistic and unlikely the sequence of events that leads to the main premise of this update of Jules Verne's classic are. You just kind of float along for the ride. That's probably the most redeeming quality of the film. You don't really have time to ask; "how in tarnation could they come up with that so quickly?? It does leave me curious how much they left n the editing room floor. Nevertheless, this is an enjoyable film to watch and the 3D enhances the experience - even the really kitschy 3D gimmicks. A Yo-Yo in your face? Puh-lease! The acting is good and it draws you into the story. If it were not for the obvious holes in the script and the mind's inability to not chime in with a "that's impossible" thought every 10 to 12 minutes, this would be a must go film.
