American screenwriter John L. Balderston specialized in writing plays and horror and fantasy scripts for movies. Prior to this, he was a war correspondent in Europe during WW I, the editor of Outlook magazine, and a correspondent for the New York World. His stage plays Dracula and Frankenstein were both adapted into classic horror movies in 1931.
