Enjoyable Movie

I went to this movie with extremely high expectations, as I had read all the Barsoom series books over many years. This movie is based upon Edger Rice Burrows "A Princess of Mars". The way that they were able to get John Carter to Mars was very well thought out even though it was different from the book. Since it was a Disney movie, nudity was out, so some of the movie didn't match the book. There were some slow points at time, but they were necessary for the development of the characters. The acting was good, everyone matching their characters very well. The action scenes were well done. Since this was heavily rendered with CGI, you would expect some of the scenes or characters to be of poor quality, but the opposite is true. This is a good film for the entire family. I will see this movie many times.

Midnight Showing of John Carter

Waited for 2 years for John Carter to come out. An ardent fan of the books I realize it would be impossible to condense a masterpiece into just 2 hours of cinema, but Andrew Stanton did a remarkable job. Taylor Kitsch in the title roll was perfection in motion. He embodied the persona of John Carter with subtle humor and physical charisma. Lynn Collins' portrayal of Dejah Thoris as it should be was, beautiful, intelligent and courageous. The icing on the cake, Willem Dafoe as the quintessential Tars Tarkas. Whether a person knows the literary works of Edgar Rice Burroughs or not "John Carter" will not disappoint its audience. Before there was a Stars Wars, before there was an Avatar, there was John Carter! Do not hesitate to be transported to MARS (Barzoom) right along with him! 2012 is definitely the year of Taylor Kitsch!!

Saw JC much better than the lame critics said it was! If you like scifi, you will like John Carter! Great story, good action sequences, clever critters, and visually stimulating. See it in IMAX 3D if you can!

Some of it was brilliant. Some of it could have been done better. But it's worth seeing, and I did like it. The special effects are special. The acting was good, but not great. Too much going on at times and not enough character development. And a bit confusing as to what's going on. But in general I really enjoyed it, it's great entertainment.
