    I Craved Sushi Afterwards

Having been to Tokyo over 20 times, I never even knew about this place. I was fascinated to find out that it was in the Ginza station. All I can say is, I was desperate for sushi after the movie was over. I went to a [normally really good and reputable] sushi restaurant, and was grossly disappointed. This movie has ruined me for life. Now THAT'S effective!

    Jiro Dreams of Sushi

There is nothing more compelling, fascinating, inspirational than watching someone excel at their passion: Julia Child in the kitchen, Bobby Fisher at a chess board, Michael Jordan on the basketball court or Jiro Ono, the sovereign of the sushi bar; at 85 his obsession with his profession eliminates complacency, questing daily for improvement, he is messianic in his devotion and love of his craft...
David Gelb's "Jiro Dreams of Sushi" immortalizes a hero, an icon who for over forty years, has never deviated from his path, detests holidays; has climbed beyond the pinnacle but still searches for the illusive scent, delicious taste of the sushi in his dreams...

    FOUR STARS!!!!

Nice story with great music ... Long and not complete.

Not one mention was made of the women that raised these men. Even Jiro said he never saw his children when they were growing up. I assume someone was actually home raising them. I am not a feminist but there was a huge hole that made the movie incomplete and somewhat hollow.

    Had to Have Sushi

    by laserMD

This was an unusual documentary: no "plot" or surprise ending, but I wanted to always see what came next. It was refreshing to see someone utterly respectful of their trade, craft, or profession. Jiro's love of his work transcended the hackneyed Japanese "respect" that we see in Samurai movies. From market to table we witness people who care; little things matter. Then I wanted sushi!
