Franz Osten directs this romantic crime-thriller about murder on a train. On her wedding day, Kamala (Devika Rani) elopes with her childhood sweetheart Ratanlal (Najmul Hussain) and escapes on a train. Kamala's father catches up with them and a heated argument ensues. Suddenly gunfire is heard and a body is dumped from the moving train. The police have no shortage of suspects for the crime: though the prime suspect is Ratanlal, Kamala swears up and down that she is the criminal. Also aboard is Sukhdev (Bhaskar Dev) and the crazed Tarachand, both of whom plead guilty as well. This film was the first sound film in Hindi by the Bombay Talkies studio. ~ Jonathan Crow, Rovi
