I enjoyed this movie very much but if you go DO NOT see it in 3D--the picture is so blurry, you can barely see the scenes--I was so disappointed!! Now I have to wait to see it on cable because I am not taking the chance to go and have to pay that obnoxious price to watch it in 3D because the movie wants to make more money by having the regular movie stop playing at a certain time. Other than that--the movie, special effects and the love story are a definite go see.

Jack the Giant Slayer is indeed an adventure, but it could have been so much better. The plot of film falls under familiar pretenses such as the reluctant lead who discovers his true potential by the end of the film. Very cliched but it does work for the film. The characters could have been stronger, but the performances were entertaining. There is a big world to this movie, but it is not really explored. When it comes down to it, Jack the Giant Slayer knows exactly what it is: a popcorn film. Thankfully it never talks down to the audience as this is kind of movie you can just enjoy. However, given the film's concept, you think there would be a bigger adventure behind it. Oh well, it is still an enjoyable movie.

This movie was really fun. I took my 8 yr old and we really enjoyed it. The giants were more ugly than scary.

It's "Jack and the Beanstalk" and they did a great job with it! The story was a little darker and more grim than you might expect for a "child's tale," yet it was good for all ages!
If I had kids, I'd own it. Didn't need to see it in the theater, but still wasn't bothered that I paid to see it or anything.
Definitely worth seeing at some point and well done. My personal opinion is they could have made the story even more interesting a few ways, but I think they didn't want to complicate it too much.
Enjoy it for what it is and you will appreciate it!

Watching he movie made me remind me of the story "Jack and the Beanstalk"..But the movie perhaps depicted more than the version I had read. The visual animation was very pleasing...The story depicts about moral values, true courage, and a keen sens of presence of mind which helped to save Jack imminent danger. You do not always need to have a physical prowess to defeat your opponent. Your quick presence of mind is all what you need to survive in this world !
