First a disclaimer: this is not a movie for very young children. My 9-year-old grandson was just about the minimum age. The violence is a bit too realistic and intense for really young kids. On the other hand, this is the best older kids flick I've seen this year. The characters are very well portrayed. The plot is not much of a surprise, but the story is well crafted and the pace is excellent.

Good movie but not great. Effects were great. I consider this a Redbox movie!
Film was good
Nice story line
I took my two kids, 8 & 4, and they enjoyed it

If you are a girl who saw a preview to this and thought, oh this would be a cute hero love story, DON'T GO! It was disturbing, horrifying, and way too gorey. It is not for kids, teens, or adults who dont like horror movies. But Obi-Wan (Ewan) was pretty awesome.=)

It's "Jack and the Beanstalk" and they did a great job with it! The story was a little darker and more grim than you might expect for a "child's tale," yet it was good for all ages!
If I had kids, I'd own it. Didn't need to see it in the theater, but still wasn't bothered that I paid to see it or anything.
Definitely worth seeing at some point and well done. My personal opinion is they could have made the story even more interesting a few ways, but I think they didn't want to complicate it too much.
Enjoy it for what it is and you will appreciate it!

The movie was a bit goofy, especially the 2 headed giant. It had a fairly descent plot with some very good actors, but the special effects were really not taken seriously and it shows.
