Ever since I saw the original trailer for this movie, I was concerned that the story of Jack and the Beanstalk was far too simple to turn into a full length movie. At the same time, I was intrigued.
I am relieved to say that Jack the Giant Slayer did not fail to entertain. I'm most impressed with the cohesiveness of its plot. While not a masterpiece, this movie presents a fully fleshed out story with minimal loose ends and a direct tie to the fairytale we all know.
The settings and costumes were well designed. A lot of attention was paid to the beautiful visuals. The dialogue was not overly simple, and the story wasn't completely linear.
While not horrible, the CGI definitely is not up to the standard of today. The giants never appear realistic. The movie does have its cheesy moments, but all in all a solid effort worth watching.
If you like my reviews, add me as a fan. I'll add you back!

The 3D IMAX experience was amazing for this movie. Was suspenseful and exciting. Careful if you bring younger kids they will get scared. I brought my 9 and 14 year old and they did fine. My son (9) said it was cool. scary & sad.

Enternaining for the kids, Tuchi and Mcshane were there do get a paycheck. On a 1-10 scale, I would give it a 4. Good stuff for the family, alttle too simple for adults.

Loved it .. my son is a huge Jack and the Beanstalk fan and this movie hit on all levels. Even the adults can watch and have a really good time. Loved it ... must see if you have little boys and big boys ... There was suspense and drama and action ...

I hadn't been to a 3d movie in years so I figured why not try it and go. I was very pleased. The movie was fun and fast moving. It's not the Jack and the Beanstalk for kids, unless you want them to have nightmares. Very good movie, lots of fun.
