I really enjoyed this movie. It was like Jack and the Bean-stock on steroids. My 8 and 10 year old kids liked it also. It was not too scary for them. Very well done. Special effects and voice overs are good.

I took my 16 year old to see this and he loved it. It was not my kind of movie. I have to say though that some of the special affects were pretty good.

In this age of appealing to the lowest common denominator (which admittedly this movie does with the whole "giant chef" scene), its refreshing to see an old fashioned fairytale yarn. The actors turn in fine performances (Stanley Tucci's scenery-chewing villain is repulsively delightful). It's also a family friendly romp, although some of the scenes get a little scary for younger children. The story does also toe the edge of running too long, but why carp? It's fun. Take a break from the Hollywood pop culture sludge machine and buy some magic beans.

Very entertaining, original - I don't ever recall Jack and the Beanstalk this way, but maybe I've been wrong all these years. No matter, this film takes the tale to unique/imaginative territory and it just worked. The story takes you on the ride, not thee effects/3D - that's what matters. Acting across the board was excellent - nothing overboard, no cheesy lines common with such theatrical depictions of tales. If anything, you're left wanting more!

I rate this a B. We all know the story so no real suprises BUT still fun to watch. I think they did and excellent job creating the giants (even though some of their actions and dialogue were hokey). The acting was OK but the real star is the production design. Great sets and felt like everything that was supposed to be giant ...was. Nothing new here but worth the time....Go and enjoy
