This movie in Imax and any other format is a charming production of the old fairy tale. I saw it in IMax and as always, Imax is an awesome format. However, the movie would have been good in any format. Take the kids. It was a great rendition of the old tale and it may inspire clever children to ignor roadblocks and depend more on their insight and cleverness like the farm boy Jack.

Jack the Giant Slayer 3D is a KILLER film! It SLAYS!

I highly recommend the 3D in this film. The effects were great. Sometimes the camera pulls back and gives you a view that the giants are supposed to be seeing, this looks like a slightly reduced version of the normal characters in higher than normal resolution. This film is okay for most ages, but some scenes may be too gross or violent for younger children, so parents should BELIEVE the PG-13 rating and keep children under 13 from seeing the film unless they're extra mature for their age! One of the most interesting parts of the film is the story. It's not your childhood story of Jack and the Beanstalk, but it's close enough that it's recognizable, with some gender changes here and there, and a little background of Jack as a young child. Also, instead of one giant it's a whole race of nasty big guys. REALLY NASTY! Well done.

It was visually stimulating and the movie moves along well. My son enjoyed it and would like to have it on DVD. I would recommend it in 3D. The giants were great also.

Doesn't matter how old you are, it is a fun adventure for everyone.

It is simply a movie that has the elements of a good time - action, humor, the subtle spark of romance, and a cast of actors well suited for the roles they took. The graphics were excellent and the 3-D was Universal Studios style with effects that make you recoil away as if the movie was coming at you. It's true that this is a revamped childhood story-book adventure, but it was well played and directed to to be more of a well-round story for the 21st century audience.

movie was fun and entertaining, certainly no major thought processes involved. The 3D process made it a wonderful viewing 2 hours and the action was great when it started to happen though slow in arriving. Good fun which keeps you interested. Sound in movie was incredibly loud. Though the story line is weak since it is from a children's story, the 3D process keeps you excited and paying attention. I was not impressed with the main actor playing Jack.
