Ever since I saw the original trailer for this movie, I was concerned that the story of Jack and the Beanstalk was far too simple to turn into a full length movie. At the same time, I was intrigued.
I am relieved to say that Jack the Giant Slayer did not fail to entertain. I'm most impressed with the cohesiveness of its plot. While not a masterpiece, this movie presents a fully fleshed out story with minimal loose ends and a direct tie to the fairytale we all know.
The settings and costumes were well designed. A lot of attention was paid to the beautiful visuals. The dialogue was not overly simple, and the story wasn't completely linear.
While not horrible, the CGI definitely is not up to the standard of today. The giants never appear realistic. The movie does have its cheesy moments, but all in all a solid effort worth watching.
If you like my reviews, add me as a fan. I'll add you back!

Overall, it's a fun movie to watch. The director, Bryan Singer, knows how to get your attention, but he also knows how to make a simple idea a two-hour long event. Some fat could've been trimmed to help with the pacing, and I agree with another reviewer that the leading lady seems too old for the role, but I only went in expecting some decent 3D and a satisfying ending. This movie delivers.
The 3D is not bad. Some parts really did make me react with debris, arrows, BEES flying at my face. My friend got squeamish at some parts, so I think the 3D was a success overall.
Definitely not for little children. Nothing cute about this movie, the giants are GRUESOME.

Jack & The Giant Slayer started out to be okay in the beginning. I lost a little bit of interest in it. I appreciated the action parts in the middle of the sequences though. The beginning film's CGI was not all that great. The middle to ending CGI was pretty good in my opinion. In a nutshell, I would say the trailer was made out to be a lot greater than what I expected to see. Jack & The Giant Slayer was just okay.

If there were something between So-So and Go I may have gone that direction. It was good, not great. Well crafted, good performances, clever at times but it never flew.
I would have preferred to save myself some cash and see the 2D version but the theater purposely schedules those at ridiculous times and practically force you to drop the $16.50 on the 3D ticket.
Very likable though.
