Entertaining, original

Very entertaining, original - I don't ever recall Jack and the Beanstalk this way, but maybe I've been wrong all these years. No matter, this film takes the tale to unique/imaginative territory and it just worked. The story takes you on the ride, not thee effects/3D - that's what matters. Acting across the board was excellent - nothing overboard, no cheesy lines common with such theatrical depictions of tales. If anything, you're left wanting more!

This is a great family movie. There is some violence and the giants could be scary to small children. We did go to the 3D movie but not a moive that is a must see in 3D as I expected.

Read the mixed reviews but still wanted to see it in XD 3D which was a 50 min drive, so I went by myself. I thought the movie was great.

The Good: Great visuals good acting, Jack (Nicholas Hoult) did a great job, Isabelle (Eleanor Tomlinson) is beautiful (certainly a plus) and I always enjoy Ewan McGregor and Ian McShane, both favorites of mine. The not so good: after seing CGI like Life of Pi recently and knowledge of the state of the art of it, I thought the giants should have been much better. Story line is ok, but fairly predictable. If you're interested in seeing it, it should be viewed on the biggest screen in 3D that you can. Fun but not stupendus.
