OK, talented Graphics, and Animation work, story line was weak, action ok, but not really believable in places.
Wait for DVD or TV.

Sad disappointment: 3D mediocre, characters too flat to care about. Waste of time and money.

We watched this movie in an IMAX 3-D XD theater and the CGI characters really came to life. The movie is fast-paced (if a bit predictable) and keeps the story moving along quickly. Great performance by the leading actors and actress. The CGI element of the giants could have bit more detailed. I never quite believed the giants were "real". In Monsters, Inc. it is possible to completely the reality of the monsters like Sully because of the tremendous detail in hair. The giants in this movie were good but not great. The 3-D features were awesome. I actually pulled back in my set as several objects came whizzing towards us from the screen. Very believable. Great performances by Ewan McGregor and Stanley Tucci.

Our entire family went to see Jack the Giant Slayer in 3D, and everyone LOVED it! My parents thought it was action packed and like the folklore element, and my kids thought it was the perfect mix of humor and action. I was worried my 5 year old daughter would be scared, but she wasn't at all. My husband thought it was fun to watch too. I love movies that everyone can enjoy together!

The Good: Great visuals good acting, Jack (Nicholas Hoult) did a great job, Isabelle (Eleanor Tomlinson) is beautiful (certainly a plus) and I always enjoy Ewan McGregor and Ian McShane, both favorites of mine. The not so good: after seing CGI like Life of Pi recently and knowledge of the state of the art of it, I thought the giants should have been much better. Story line is ok, but fairly predictable. If you're interested in seeing it, it should be viewed on the biggest screen in 3D that you can. Fun but not stupendus.
