The plot and characters were certainly a bit formulaic, but it was much better than I expected. There was some funny dialogue without being campy. The "love story" developed rather naturally. And the action was really good. It all came to a rather quick and tidy resolution, but it was a fun ride all the way to the finish.

My husband enjoyed the movie. I thought the leading lady was way too old for the hero and no chemistry. The 3D special effects weren't anything special. I also thought it wasn't appropriate for children. The two headed giant seemed rather distasteful. Yuck.
Does Hollywood test drive any of these movies? There are lots of books out there with great plots. Surely, something better has to come along to the theaters.

The Good: Great visuals good acting, Jack (Nicholas Hoult) did a great job, Isabelle (Eleanor Tomlinson) is beautiful (certainly a plus) and I always enjoy Ewan McGregor and Ian McShane, both favorites of mine. The not so good: after seing CGI like Life of Pi recently and knowledge of the state of the art of it, I thought the giants should have been much better. Story line is ok, but fairly predictable. If you're interested in seeing it, it should be viewed on the biggest screen in 3D that you can. Fun but not stupendus.

Goods graphics... 3D was great ... just ended kind of boring... but all in all a pretty good movie took the kids; 11, 8, and 4 they liked it.

You know it's basically the story of Jack and the beanstalk but it was given with a twist and it was neat getting the story from the giants point of view as well.
It was soooo cool in 3D and I enjoyed every minute of it!!
