I've been a Jack Reacher fan for several years. I think the movie with Tom Cruise captured the essence of the character and did a good job of presenting the novel, "One Shot." For Reacher fans, getting past the physical differences between Tom Cruise and the Lee Child character is the only stretch, so to speak, since Lee Child gave Jack Reacher a height of 6'5" and a strong build to go with it.
There was plenty of action, a plot that pulled the thinking fan into the movie and characters that were developed well enough to keep me engaged in the twists of the plot. In the season of so many releases, I think Jack Reacher is well worth seeing on the big screen.

You get what you paid for in this film...lots of stunts and action. Sadly, there's much else here. If you need a break from the musical extravaganzas and family comedic romps currently on the screen, this wouldn't be a bad choice. It's entertaining enough, meaning it holds ones attention for the duration. As for satisfying, well I suppose that's a judgment call. This viewer enjoyed the film. So I say, see it, you won't be disappointed.

I love it ... I didn't know Rosamund Pike is playing, that's a real pleasant surprise.
The only thing I don't like is some of the missing details. E.g.: in the last scene, Tom is soaking wet after a gun fight outside, but when he enters the trailer, he doesn't have a single drip of water??

I was disappointed when Tom Cruise was picked as Reacher. Reacher is over 6 feet tall and intimidating when he wants to be. Cruise is short and proved to be a GREAT Reacher. I was pleasantly surprised. I enjoyed the movie. They changed the ending from a bloody mess in the book to a fast and cleaned up ending in the movie.

I haven't read any of the books so didn't have a preconceived notion about what Jack Reacher looked like. Tom Cruise did a good job playing the hard guy. Can't put my finger on it but my friends and I both came out of the movie thinking "that was a decent movie" it was almost but not quite a good movie. Not sure why but that's my two cents.
