I've Loved You So Long
Kristin Scott Thomas is clearly the woman of the hour in this film. Every expression on her face is more demanding of our attention and emotions than any other film I've seen this year. She is absolutely phenomenal.
Elsa Zylberstein manages to come up second to her, but only insofar, as KST's performance is otherworldly.
The film itself relies on a somewhat cliched setup, and its secrets are not too tough to guess, but that does not make them any less painful or affecting. One walks away thinking that it wasn't meant to be a surprise in the traditional sense--but a surprise that it's represented accurately.
This is an excellent film, and I haven't seen one better in months (perhaps years).
