By Spartacus2000

A film based on and dramatizing the life story of a man named Ip Man, a genius of Wushu who grew up in China nearly destroyed by prejudice, warfare, and nationalistic strife. He rose like a phoenix above the ashes and became the great teacher of great man like Bruce Lee.

Ip Man Review

Heard nothing but good things about this movie and decided to make it my first movie of 2011. Not that I'm superstitious or anything. I had a choice between several really good movies, I just ended up watching this one. There's a lot of great fight sequences in here, although I found the final showdown a bit brief. Donnie Yen's punch speed is INSANE as Ip Man. His fight sequence versus the 10 karate black belts is pretty epic. When we're not watching amazing fight choreography, the story plods along, but, like I said, there's a fight scene around the corner. Eagerly anticipating Ip Man 2 now.
