i dont think i have had any film move me so much. it changed the way i thought twords things.emile heirsh is my second favorite actor, he is amazing.the book was not quite as good. more set facts than story by far.seeing it come to life in film was truly amazing.inspiring.
This movie is very well made, and very faithful to the book. Especially impressive is that the movie touches on the interesting variety of philosophies and questions inherent in the story of someone who gives away his money and possessions to go into the wild. Is he self-destructive or authentic? Is he selfish or enlightened? Did he truly love the people in his life? What would it be like to live alone in the wild? Compared to living alone (without money or possessions) in the city? Did he honor or waste his short time on earth? And what would have happened had he lived? It is sad, and instructive, that we don't know.
I loooooooved this movie. Everything about it- the acting, story line, scenery, etc.- was perfect. And it was a true story. It entertains and makes you think. You will laugh and probably cry. Best movie I've ever seen.
I went in to tell my son to change the channel and then loved it. The best movie I can remember in years.
