    Solid Catholic Movie

Unfortunately, someone wrote a review about a seance and a chicken. I am writing a review to let everyone know that there are no scenes in this movie about a chicken or a seance. This is the cleanest and most solidly Catholic movie I have seen in a while.

The cinematographer is like a William Carlos Williams using film. The volume of the movie is low, but there is almost always some sound. Often you here things that you would not notice unless you led the silent life of a monk. The visuals are always very interesting. The movie was longer than most films but a perfect length. After the movie I felt the same calmness I feel after visiting the Blessed Sacrament.

    Hmmm....

This is the most unusual movie I have ever seen. The first 15 minutes I was annoyed because it was so out of the norm for what you would normally expect out of a movie or documentary. My frame of reference was shaken. Once that initial impression passed I was able to look at it as if I was just viewing the monks going through their day. There is no commentary and only one interview near the end that lasted less than three minutes. It would have been nice to get some background on the people there. What prompted them to divorce themselves from humanity, not just society like the Amish do? How long do most people stay at the monastery? How many make it through probation? Though I do recommend it I am not sure it is something I would ever need to see again.

i am an avid movie-goer. i see a movie almost everyday. i have never seen a movie like this. there is no dialogue, no plot, no characters, no beginning and no end. i've always wondered what goes on in a monestary, that's what initially drew me to this movie. this is a catholic monestary. i feel more educated now. every detail was magnified because of the silence. i wish there were more "reasons" - however, i feel nosey
