I was really looking forward to seeing what James Wan would pull out in Insidious: Chapter 2. The first one was incredibly good for the budget that was set for the film, and it was surprisingly scary. The second time around, most everything that happens in just same-old same-old. More astral projection, more (and much more predictable) jump-scares, and a lot less tension overall. The thing that got me in the first Insidious is that you had no idea when something creepy would happen. In Chapter 2, everything is predictable, and every time you expect something bizarre to happen, it does. There are a few good twists and it integrates extremely well with the original, but unfortunately it just isn't live up to the expectations I (or many others) had.
If you're a huge fan of the first Insidious like I am, go see this one just for how well it fleshes out the plot. But if you're raring for a really frightening, can't-sleep-at-night flick, check out The Conjuring

My 15 yr old daughter was talking about the sequel for months. We liked the first movie and looked forward to seeing the 2nd. We were both ready to leave about halfway through. But the last 10 minutes or so of the movie wasn't that bad. I guess I know what there were less than 20 people in the theatre on its 2nd day out. Fine for kids to watch, not real scary and I don't remember any bad language being used. Bottom line is that I could have done without seeing it.

This movie was not as good as I thought it would have been, but its something to watch.. To me Evil Dead is the best real horror movie this year hands down.

I went to this movie with high expectations. The first movie was by far one of the scariest movies that I have seen, so I had the same idea going into the new one. I went opening night hoping that it was going to be good. For the first half of the movie I was sitting there waiting hoping that they were just building the anticipation, but it never came. Granted there were 2 times I did jump, but to say that the movie was scary was a joke comparing it to the first insidious. The movie tried to tell more of a crime fighter story rather then sticking to a horror movie format. It was a huge waste of money and I am so dissappointed in this movie. I went from beyond excited to beyond let down. This movie Gets a BIG OH NO from me.

When I first saw that Insidious 2 was coming out, I was very excited. My friends and I really loved the first one. Although the first one, towards the end, was kind of confusing, I still liked it. This movie really tied up a lot of loose ends in the first Insidious movie. However, this movie didn't make me jump as much. Of course there were some scary and creepy parts, but I found myself not as scared. I'm not sure if it was because of the comedy in it, like other people have suggested, or something else, but I just wasn't as scared. However, don't let that deter you from seeing the sequel. If you were a fan of the first one, you have to go see this one so it all makes sense for you. Don't go see this one if you haven't yet seen the first one. You won't exactly understand everything that goes on. Out of 5 stars, this movie is probably a 2.5.
