Inside Llewyn Davis

To me this film was like a beautiful painting I admire in a museum but don't want to hang in my home. I can see the artistry, the detail the creativity that is unmatched. At the same time Llewyn Davis is tough going since there doesn't seem to be anything redeemable about his character. I know the time, place and mood of Llewyn Davis and the film was pitch perfect but oh so heavy. I think I know why his partner threw himself off the bridge. I felt it.

Inside Lewllyn Davis

I usually ignore these requests but this movie was the worst I have seen in a long time. It was SOOOO bad that I googled reviews after seeing it just to be sure I had read correctly. I think the critics would praise the Coen Brothers for filming someone cutting grass which, in my opinion, would have been more interesting. Come on guys.....let's be real. Okay....liked one or two of the songs but otherwise RUN away from this one.

THE MUSIC AND ACTING WERE FANTASTIC. THE MOVIE DID A GREAT JOB WITH SHOWING A SLICE OF LIFE OF A STRUGGLING FOLK SINGER. REAL LIFE ... SOMEWHAT DEPRESSING.

I found that despite great expectations, and very strong acting, the story lacked any arc....i couldnt conceive of any true beginning, middle or end...just the glum persistence of the main characters life...by the end, i really didnt care. To be honest, I couldnt believe it was over...my friend and i looked at each other and said -- that's it? that qualifies as a movie?

Circular Story but Strong Characters

By Molly Waterman

I love the Coen Brothers' movies, some more than others, but they are all well crafted. Inside Llewyn Davis has rich characters (and caricatures), Oscar Isaac nails the songs and the feeling behind the songs, and I felt his frustration with his lagging career and the events pulling him away from his dream. However, the circular story did not offer any releif from the tension. I gained limited insight into why we were told the story at all, maybe I need to see it again…that being said, I'm glad I saw it and would recommend it.
