Synopsis

A trip home becomes a terrifying voyage into the unknown in this supernatural thriller. Johnny De Jesus (Darrel Gamotin) and his sister Anna (Nadine Villasin) are two siblings of Philippine heritage who have pulled up stakes and are living in Canada. When they receive word that their grandmother has died, they fly home to Manila for the funeral and learn that Grandmother has left the family estate to Johnny, Anna and Vanessa (Phoemela Baranda), their hard-partying cousin. This news doesn't sit well with the older members of the family, who make no secret of their displeasure. As Johnny and Anna try to decide what to do with their Grandmother's home, Vanessa invites over some friends and they become aware of the presence of Tommy (Nicco Lorenzo Garcia), a homeless orphan with emotional problems who has been living on the estate grounds. Soon Johnny begins having bizarre waking nightmares in which his grandmother tells him of some skeletons in the family's closet, and his somber visit home takes on a truly menacing air. The Inheritance (aka Ang Pamana) received its American debut at the 2006 Hawaii Film Festival, where it was screened as part of the "Extreme Asia" series. ~ Mark Deming, Rovi
