INGLOURIOUS BASTERDS - WUNDERBAR!!! Rating: 93 out of 100. (Based on advance VIP press preview)

IG - screenwritten/directed by Quentin Tarantino - is a 2.5hr war-fantasy movie set in an alternate history WWII.

This engaging mesmerizing movie stars Brad Pitt, Christoph Waltz, Eli Roth, Melanie Kruger, Tilman Valentin Schweiger, Michael Fassbender, Gedeon Burkhard, B.J. Novak - a EXCELLENT cast!

I was captivated by the direction and especially by the characters that were cheesily caricatured.
The lines spoken by the characters were at times hilariously humorous but instantly identifiable as coming from Quentin Tarantino.
Mike Myers also had a part in the movie - he was almost unrecognizable under heavy make-up.

The best performance has to go to Christoph Waltz for his Oscar-worthy portrayal of the 'Jew Hunter' - the diabolical polite yet sinister Standartenführer Hans Landa.

I have to say that IG is the best movie that I've seen all year so far. I will definitely watch it again.

    VERDICT:
    HIGHLY RECOMMENDED.
    A MUST SEE!
    Excellent soundtrack.
    Solid A Grade.

    great

I saw this movie with realy high expectations. I have loved quentin tarantino films all my life. Pulp fiction and resorvoir dogs were top 10 in my favorite movies so naturally i thought this movie would blow my mind. and i was right. Although i know most people will disagree with me, In my opinion I see this picture as Tarantino's best film. The direction was superb and the acting by the cast was outstanding. Go see this movie asap.

    A delightful movie of revenge

    by jameon

Ever wonder what if Hitler and his cohorts got theirs and how would it happen? This delightlful movie explores such a possibility. Set during one of my favorite times in history to learn about, WWII, the Basterds are diabolically funny, violent and precise in carrying out their mission. Brad Pitt is wonderful in his role as their commanding officer and Christopher Waltz is brilliant as the SS officer who gets on everybody's nerves and kept coming back like a bad cold. The subtitles did not make the movie less than what it should be. Hearing French and German spoken throughout the film gave it the authencity it needed for where the story was set. Kudos to Quentin Tarantino for giving audiences who closely follow the events of this time in history the satisfaction of seeing the end of the Third Reich.

    Inglourious Basterds....

    by spfcm17

Just saw this at a midnight showing, and it was a great movie. Plot was awesome, and had a lot of build up before the action scenes which may turn people off, but QT does a great job of adding some "comedy" to keep it from getting boring, and it was totally worth going to see at a midnight show. You will not be disappointed if you see this movie, by far one of the best movies of the year, even though there hasn't been much out there this summer. Also might I add, the ending will not disappoint you, it is a great movie from start to finish, and I would pay to see it again instead of wasting it on "Bruno" or some other crap that has been in theaters lately. GO SEE IT!!!

    Awesome

A vintage Tarantino Bloodbath, very graphic, not for young kids or the squeamish. Don't look for any historical accuracy, this is a very entertaining alternate history story. Brad Pitt is hilarious as Lt. Aldo Raine, his merry band of "Basterds" are every Nazi's Nightmare! It's like Kill Bill set in Nazi Occupied France. If you can accept it for what it is (A QT Masterpiece) you will love it!

    Its OK to be entertained...

Man, I wish people would lighten up about it not being historical. Tarantino basically takes command of history that everyone already knows about Hitlers bunker and turns it around to a "what if" with kick *** entertainment.

Loved It!!! Lighten up people...Be entertained.....

Worse Movie so far this year

I kept waiting for the movie to get better. But it never did. Too long with the worse ending.

    Bidness is a-boomin'

I love this movie -- what could be better than killin' Nazis!?!

It was great fun to watch the story unfold, because the characters, although steerotyped, were so well-played (Brad Pitt and the Herr Landa actor should get Oscar nominations) and even though a lot of the events were predictable, they "worked." Tarantino manages to use stereotypes and predicable plot developments in a way that still lets his movies entertain and engage -- an unlikely quality for a director. This movie is one of his more obvious good guys/bad guys films (no way anyone thinks Nazis are the good guys, right?), but again, the predictability and stereotypes work.

For this film, I especially liked that the audience was aware of the two cinema-related plans but the characters did not realize anything about each other's plans. In the end the two plans converge pretty smoothly in spite iof the fact that several key players don't quite fullfill their duties. Overall, one of Tarantino's best films. Go see it!

    Ingrlorious Basterds

    by Toshie

Quentin is a genious!!! This movie is NOT based on history (hellooo....Cyclonebill1966!!) it's fun fiction!! What person in their right mind wouldn't want to see this happen to the nazii's? This is balls out, dirty, spaghetti western-esque "horror/comedy", in this movie. Know what you're getting into otherwise, don't bother if you're just going to bash it!! This is awesome!! I WISH this crew were around during those times!!

    WWII Tarantino's style

    by jdm91

If you're a WWII history buff or a stickler for facts, don't see this movie! Quentin Tarantino rewrites the end of WWII but that is just a minor footnote in this movie. After so many of Tarantino's tributes to the 70's genre, you may be surprised at the accuracy and detail of his WWII-era occupied France. But with each scene, you realize that he is putting his own spin on things. Brad Pitt clearly has a blast as 1LT Aldo Raine, leader of the of Basterds, a Kentucky raised son of an Italian immigrant and Apache Indian (no kidding!). Although he is one of the supporting characters, his performance makes you wish there were more scenes of just Raine and his Basterds. In typical Tarantino fashion, the characters are so unique and interesting that their horribly violent actions seem not only acceptable but even comical. Only Tarantino could make an audience laugh at a man being beaten to death with a bat. Definitely not for kids! Be prepared to have a great time with this film!

    Must Go If.....

Alright guys....The movie is fiction......ok!!!!....and for you XBOX360 generations who never bothered to learn how to read in school.....shut up!!! I don't care if you can't read and don't like subtitles. The scenes that Tarantino created in this movie are intense, the acting was incredible, the story line very entertaining. I really loved this movie. You have to understand that I read the reviews that other movie goer's had left and it made me very hesitant to go.

This movie was engrossing from the beginning (you XBOXERS can look that up) I was very surprised to come out of there going.....wow.....that was a really good flick.

Basterds is a dialogue driven movie, highlighted with less then expected, over the top, violence!
So in a nutshell, if you can't read, can't comprehend the proper syntax of the American alphabet or are looking for continuous Halo like first person shooter gratification, I suggest staying at home and playing with your mouse.
    The movie rocked..

Awesome!! Go see it! Classic Tarantino.

    by bslo

This movie was awesome!! Its the first time we've seen Tarantino do a historical movie so it has a slightly different feel than his others but overall it still classic Tarantino. Its not quite as stylized as Kill Bill but equal to it i think.. Less action than Kill Bill or Death Proof... Very violent but as usual its all in good fun. Excellent cast and acting. It has the usual twists and turns, dialogue, dark humor, ect.... The people who wrote bad reviews about it or didn't get it are idiots and have no business watching real artistic cinema in the first place. They should stick to romantic comedy crap or kids movies... Great time at the movies!! GO!!

I GO TO WATCH MOVIES.... NOT TO READ THEM

The movie started off good but the entire middle of the movie was so boring and there were so many subtitles i couldnt eve look at the screen anymore. theres a whole hour straight in the movie with no english. The end was awesome and so was brad pitt. Whenever he was in the movie it was great to watch. The problem is that he's hardly in the movie. If u think you can somehow forget about the whole middle of the movie after watching it then go see it.

ONE OF THE MUST SEE'S OF THE SUMMER

    This is Classic Tarantino!

Pro's: Great story and dialogue. Unexpected camios and guest stars. Unexpected "Cheasy" scenes and straight out in your face attitude!

Cons: Way too much foreign language. I'd say about 80% of the film is in either French or German. Even a scene with Pitt is in Italian... LOL Inside, until you watch the movie.

    SPOILER ALERT!!!
This is not a historic movie based on true events... its completely fiction taking place during a historic event. DO NOT go into this movie expecting factoral plot.

My best advise is to go into this movie expecting to watch a foreign film with a little bit of english.

GiulianaRenata So the hotel I'm staying at was a cinema. They preserve the old skool stairs & cooped up elevator. Felt like a scene in Inglourious Basterds
