    IN BRUGES = Brilliant

    by lugubriousthespian

Witty, stylish, oddball, quirky comedy drama narrowing down on two hit men (Brendan Gleeson and Colin Farrell) holed up in a small European city awaiting the next order from their harried boss (Ralph Fiennes). Brings a lot more depth to this genre than one would expect and the entire cast is stellar. Some very British humor brightens up the dialogues these two guys have throughout the course of the film which is essentially an allegory about life and death. Wonderfully refreshing film.

My gun gets nicked, I'm suicidal, my best mate wants to kill me!

This movie is a slow character exploration. Well acted by Colin Farrell and Brendan Gleeson. There is a pace one must get into when viewing such a movie. It's like fresh made spagetti sauce. Just the right mixture; just the right temperture to get it right. You can't rush great taste.
Stick around for the scene where Ralph Fiennies gets tapped in the forehead. Bloody brilliant!

In Bruges (where has Fiennes been)

I didn't see it in the Theater because it did not look too good and Ralph Fiennes is always that deep but shallow, simple but blar, blar type actor that bores me silly.
Well OMG, for me Ralph Fiennes owned the movie. His portrayal of the charecter on the phone and infront of the camera was awesome. I now know if I ever see fines in the boring role, to blame the Director, because the guy is capable of so much more. Gleeson and Farrel were also excellent with the best most realistic "die scene" ever, coming from Gleeson.
The movie is a black comedy, realistic, entertaining and whitty, but would be nothing without the excellent performances of Fiennes, Gleeson and Farrel in that order and the Direction of McDonagh.

    In Bruge

I came across this on cable and watched it because of Ralph Fiennes. I found the movie interesting and compelling with just the right amount of action. Who knew the city of Bruges could be so interesting and a mafia character could actually have principles worth dying for.
