More for parents than kids it seemed.

    by Trikky

I screened this movie last night and I was not let down. Granted my reaction prior to seeing the movie was ohhh great another low budget animation movie with big name stars trying to make a mark. But thankfully I was way off. The animation actually was pretty good. They had all the bells and whistles expected nowadays and the voice acting was top notch, especially Steve Buscemi.

Also, while I did not have a problem with it, some parents might find the innuendos and jokes and some language bad for youngers kids. The kids probably won't even get half the jokes as well. Glad they didn't go the dreamworks direction and try to add jokes about current news and celebrity media things. Go see this, you shouldn't be upset you did :-)

    Not for Younger Children...if any!

I was surprised sitting there with my 11 year old daughter at some of the content of this movie. Smaller children would for sure leave with nightmares in their future. I'd have to say part of it, like the immortal bunny gnawing off his own feet were a bit on the morbid side and the swearing was out of place and inappropriate. We are big movie goers but if I had younger children I would not have been happy.

My daughter said to mention that it was overall an odd movie, sometimes funny but most of the time it was "not right". She didn't like the swearing or mention of body parts. Overall she wouldn't recommend it.

    Not what I expected

I have to admit, I really didn't want to see this movie, but some friends wanted to go, so I tagged along. It was either that or sit at home hitting the Stumble button a million times. Ultimately, it was worth the trip. While this film is obviously geared toward children with a typical "you are more than your peers make you out to be" moral, there is definitely some substance and a good number of bits that anyone can laugh to (there are a pretty good number of sophisticated jokes tucked away, I was surprised). I also admire the many, many homages put in to honor classic and modern horror and children's media. The animation was flawless, the voice acting was spot on, and the character design complimented everything perfectly. While I will say this is no Shrek, it's enjoyable, fun for kids and adults.

    Igor

Super cute, along the highway of Nightmare Before Christmas. There were a few scenes where I cringed on behalf of my 6 year old twins. But they loved it and so far...no bad dreams

    Igor

I recently took my 7 and 10 yr old boys to see a Igor. I was horrified at how inappropriate the film was for kids. There was an excess of adult inuendos, morbid story line and no feel good, child friendly message. Who thought that a cartoon character that tries unendingly to commit suicide would be appropriate for kids. I am hardly a prudish mom, my kids have been exposed to a wide variety of films but this one was among the worst that I have ever seen.

Igor - NOT a movie for children

After watching the previews I had NO idea of how adult this movie was going to be. The intro. to the city the creatures live in states that the igors are there to serve the mad scientists whose plight is to invent killing machines that kill, bring people back to life and kill them in again in horrifying ways.
The creatures are grotesque and disturbing and there is A LOT of inappropriate language and content. One of the sidekicks has suicidal tendencies and repeatedly "kills" himself but is immortal.

I almost left and asked for my money back but my little boy really wanted to stay (most of it went over his head thank goodness) I had gotten him all excited about seeing a movie and since there were no alternatives we stayed with the knowledge the second half got better.

In the end Evil did lose but the journey was definitely NOT worth it in my opinion. I didn't even enjoy it as an adult and I'm pretty open. I LOVE movies and am typically not too critical. This is just bad.

Kind of Fun, Especially for Izzardites!

    by Pelican

I didn't know much about this movie other than the obvious evil genius genre, but the kids were bored one afternoon so off we went. It has a pretty formulaic plotline, with an loveable underdog who overcomes adversity, gets the girl (such as she is), and saves the day. But the jewel I hadn't anticipated was a HILARIOUS turn by Eddie Izzard as the dastardly narcissistic antagonist - his performance alone was worth the price of admission.

    Igor ROCKS!

Great movie! Has nice messages for kids and adults: you can use your power for good, not evil. The underdog CAN come out on top and even though someone isn't beautiful on the outside, they are still loveable and beautiful on the inside.
It might be a little bet dark for the very young ones, but my 6 and 8 year old LOVED it!

    Igor

Not for younger kids - much too much "evil is good", "kill, "kill", "kill". There are some PG movies, like Kung Fu Panda, that are okay, but this was not. The ratings board yet again proves unfathomable. The plot is essentially that evil won out and killing is cool, and then IGOR comes along and accidentally creates an nice Frankenstein girl that saves the world. Perhaps the worst movie I have ever seen. (Makes me wonder if Beverly Hills Chihuahua might have even been better - and that's a frightening thought.)

The only saving grace was that it was so boring that I got a nap while my wife watched the kids. Terrible waste of time and money. Don't go, and certainly don't buy the DVD - far too many good Disney movies to do this nonsense.

    Igor

I am sorry that I chose this movie to take my son and 13 of his friends to see. In the clips and previews, the movie seemed to be cute and funny. I was expecting something like Shrek. We, however spent over 100.00 to see a dark and disturbing movie that was just plain wierd. There were one or two, at the most, funny points in the movie. All the boys left the theater asking what the point was, and discussing how utterly disturbing the characters appeared.
For a movie rated PG, the animators should have realized that these characters appeared too creepy. And when you are looking at a girl that has staples in her face, its hard to laugh, even at the funniest parts.
I would not reccomment this movie to anyone.

    TEEN AND ADULT CARTOON

This was a great cartoon, it was cute, funny, and had a lot of adult humor.

I would definitely not take children under 12 to see it because there are a lot of aspects in the movie that parents might not think are appropriate.

If you are up for a funny movie go see it!

Mom & Dad took a nap...

    by Sysco

Igor was lacking in the comedy I expected from Molly Shannon & John Cusack. It held the older kids attention (ages 6-11) but my 5 yr old fell asleep entirely half way through the flick. I found myself waiting for everything to come to it's conclusion and thankful it was only an hour and a half long. The graphics were good, the plot was so-so. The only thing that even remotely kept me from dozing off was the character brain and the rabbit with a death wish. The one thing REALLY bothers me is since we've seen it hearing my 5 yr old repeat suicidal wording from the film. I would NOT suggest this movie for younger kids. For parents looking to genuinely enjoy a movie with the kids I would say save a couple of bucks and just rent The Incredibles again.

    Igor

    by Hellman

It was a good family movie with enough adult humor to make it enjoyable for the parent as well as the child. An original story with memorable characters I enjoyed it very much.

Hysterically funny and with no "brain wash"

I took my 10 and 8 yo and 77 yo father and we all giggled from beginning to end! How refreshing not to have a million P.C. messages crammed down my childrens throats to fill them with guilt for being Americans. The movie is packed with admittedly irreverent humor that is handled with perfect comedic timing and old movie flair. The jokes directed at Hollywood alone are well worth going to see the movie for. My kids came away raving about the movie and highly recommending it to their friends. My dad actually enjoyed it, and he's not a big cartoon fan (although he's looking forward to Ice Age 3, good sport that he is). I give it a big two thumbs up. Best kids movie I've seen in a long time. 8-77; not a bad range!
