This movie was horrible. Thankfully, the acting was good and I appreciate Bateman and McCarthy, they did well... but the entire premise and writing was complete garbage. The movie had very few funny scenes and the few funny scenes it did have were mediocre at best. Unfortunately, I think McCarthy is getting pigeonholed as an over-the-top foul mouthed scruffy character that she will never be able to break out of. It's unfortunate, because I believe underneath her shallow performances we have seen so far is a fairly good actor. She needs to broaden her range and pick scripts that aren't complete junk.
Bateman slid from view for awhile and looked like he was on his way back up to the A list, but if he keeps picking garbage scripts like this, he's not going to get anywhere. Don't bother with this movie, unless it's at home. It's a waste of time and money.

Not every movie is an Oscar contender... This movie delivered plenty of laughs and some heartfelt / tender moments. We are already big fans of the cast, most especially Melissa .... She is a great physical and visually expressive comic. Yes, these movies are a bit predictable, but there is enough fun here to make this a very enjoyable movie.

Definitely not for kids, but this is one of the most funniest movies I've seen in a while!! Jason Bateman is great and Melissa McCarthy, although raunchy at times was hilarious!! The whole audience laughed out throughout the movie. Several sentimental moments but comedic for sure!! You'll laugh so much, you'll be crying!! Have fun!!

It was funny and cetainly gave me some laughs but I would not recomment bringing children as some of the scenes are very graphic and not for youngsters. I saw people there with kids and thought to myself that was not a very good idea. I have a friend that went to see it with her 12 year old daughter and she said she never should have taken her.

Melissa McCarthy was great in Bridesmaids and she brings the same character to this movie. Unfortunately the gags that worked in a brief scene don't make for an hour and a half film. She's simply vulgar, un attractive in personality, and its hard to find the pushed upon sympathy the film tried for at the end. Supporting cast is great and Jason Bateman makes any film worth seeing. I tried to like this movie but it simply wasn't funny: it was vulgar. A decent Redbox rent but I'm disappointed we spent money to see this at the theater.
