We've all seen and heard so much about Roosevelt, what more could be said? Well, there isn't more, just from another point of view. This was slow, even boring in parts, but also interesting. When reading, or watching, someone's memoirs you must question if what you are seeing/watching is factual or just how they remember it. And then take into account that turning those memoirs into a movie, even more liberty is taken. Having said that, the movie does show a slightly different side of Roosevelt's character. It also gives us one more reason to love Eleanor, the real steel behind the scenes of the presidency....does Hillary come to mind?

I thought the movie was interesting and entertaining. Found out a couple of interesting facts. Thought the characters played their parts very well. Scenery was beautiful. A friend said their local news showed film being filmed in Roosevelt's house in Hyde Park. It had some funny scenes. Really enjoyed the king and queen of England and Roosevelt.

A quiet little film that was sadly ignored (in spite of a campaign to get Murray an Oscar nod), as I felt Bill Murray gave a wonderful performance here as FDR, and Laura Linney as well as his distant cousin Daisy, with whom he had an affair, it seems. I very much enjoyed the interplay of all these different characters (FDR, Daisy, Eleanor, FDR's mother, and the king & queen of England) - the dynamics were fascinating. I understood the story was based on diaries found after the cousin passed away, so this is truly an insider view. I tend to feel that quiet, charming films like this one tend to be overlooked, which is a shame. I do recommend this film if you love history and appreciate a good performance.

My mum and I liked what we saw from the trailer, so we thought...'Let's just go catch it today'...!
Usually I research a movie before I go and see it, but this time I didn't....and we were in such shock! We didn't prepare ourselves for the 'nature' of this movie and it depicted FDR...! Bill Murray did a superb fob as FDR and it was nice to see him in a less comedic role. Samuel West and Olivia Colman were the BEST surprise of this movie and were highly enjoyable. Laura Linney, as always, was a gift to the screen.
