Took the 7 and 10 year old daughters to the movie and liked it. Overall, it is a good movie based on a legend. At some point it was mentioned that Budapest can be seen from the top of the hotel. I think they should have said Bucharest instead.

The film is watchable, so-so it wasn't the greatest animated movie ever, but it was definitely entertaining. I personally thought it was ok. The animation was alright, Adam Sandler's version of Count Dracula wasn't all that great. The story was typical, few funnies here and there.
I watched it with my niece & nephews and the whole family loved it. The kids loved it. I loved the typical stereotyping/impersonation of Dracula "Blah! Blah! Blah". I thought that was really hilarious. This movie is definitely a good family entertainment.

This movie is definitely a must see for adults and children (5 yrs old and older)! My 6 year old grandson, husband, and I laughed throughout the movie. My 4 year old granddaughter was a little confused with some parts of the movie. She was unsure whether to laugh or cry at some of the characters in the movie. Great animation! Great plot! Still, I'd highly recommend Hotel Transylvania for a family night out!

I was looking forward to Hotel Transylvania when I read the advanced publicity (Genndy Tartakovsky directing, Robert Smigel sharing the writing credits, and an interesting cast), but I was sorely disappointed after seeing the final product.
I'm a big fan of Smigel's wickedly satirical SNL animated shorts, but there was none of that present at the Hotel Transylvania. Just a cliched plot about a teenager and her overly protective dad, interspersed with the occasional sight gag. HT is strictly for preteens; older moviegoers will find little of interest until the final credits, where there are some beautifully drawn stills that should have been used for the movie's setting.
Check out Monsters Inc. or Coraline for how to properly do a movie in this genre.

I went to see Hotel Transylvania with my fiance and my two younger siblings who are 7 and 6 years old. There are times when the movie gives some adult humor that the kids will not understand, but it has some cute scenes with cool-looking monsters that both kids and adults will enjoy. The cast was great for the voiceovers and overall good movie to spend the money on for the family. Two thumbs up!
