Great Family Fun

Hotel Transylvania was a fun experience for my family to go and see. It has plenty of sights, "physical comedy", and gags for kids as well as a heartwarming story of the struggles between protecting your kids and letting them "fly" for adults. It's Adam Sandler and his usual cast of characters so expect some juvenile humor and some of his usual play list tossed in with a ukelele song earlier on. However it comes together nicely and he weaves together a good paced movie overall. Look out for references and nods to movies of the genre and others, there's even a "Death-star trench run" if you're paying attention. I say go see it, you will not be dissapointed and there is something for everyone.

Cute, Not great

I saw this in 3-D and would definitely NOT recommend seeing it that way. The 3-D was off for most of the shots, only the objects right up front are in focus, the rest blurry. I mostly sat through the film seeing double. (Others in the audience agreed) It was a cute movie, good voice performances. The movie was nothing to get excited about. If I could do it over again, I would not have paid the money to see it. It's a get it from Redbox kind of movie. All in all, it was so-so.

:: PROS :: Good Halloween flick // done by the same guy who did Samurai Jack // written by some of the old SNL crew [and voiced by most cast members of SNL] // Fun for parents // quick animation :: CONS :: Has a few scary moments that might not fly with kids // Story starts off pretty slow at first and might push people away

Took my ten year old daughter to see this yesterday. We both enjoyed quite a bit. I didn't catch a lot of 3-D action and what I did notice bothered my eyes a bit. The storyline was typical romance and our favorite characters were Mavis and Johnny. Would recommend it for an early morning matinee. The kids in our theater loved it.
