Hope Springs Sweetly

How can you go wrong with Meryl Streep and Tommy Lee Jones? Well, you can't. This film would not have been as good or as sweet with any other actors. They are totally believable as a couple from Omaha, Nebraska who have been married for 31 years and have stopped communicating with each other and have lost their intimacy. The writing is excellent and if any holes exist in the dialogue (and I'm not sure they do), the performances are so nuanced and the characters so complete by these two, that you feel every uncomfortable moment that they feel--which is not a bad thing because you also feel every breakthrough they have. Steve Carell is also excellent as the therapist. There are cameos by Jean Smart, Elisabeth Shue and Mimi Rogers. It's a sweet, touching, sometimes funny, sometimes sad movie and I would not be surprised to see one or two Oscar noms in February.

We liked the movie and had some laughs and tears. We did not like the close ups, nor some of Meryl's hair dos. Steve Carell was great too. May go see it again.

a raw look into a real relationship...

The trailer made the movie look like it was really funny, but while it had funny parts don't expect it to be anything like "It's complicated" or something like it. In fact, Steve Carell played a serious character and did not joke around at all. It was a raw look into a real relationship of a couple that has been together a long time. Having said all of that, I liked the movie and thought it was real with some really heartwarming parts.

The movie was really great. So funny at times. Meryl Streep was fantastic. What two people went through to try and get the passion back in their marriage. Whether it worked or not, you have to see it.Not for children

If you are an adult. Not a over 13 kid. There are some spots that are very sexual and the kids should not be involved. I even saw some adults covering their eyes some. My husband left when the scene in the movie theater was on. There were many very funny places and I was laughing out loud but they could have left out the other things.
