    Hood To Coast

This film was not exactly what I had imagined it to be. Initially, I went in expecting a documentary similar to the ones I remember watching with my Dad growing up. The football classics with that narrator with the amazing one-of-kind voice and the climactic music as you watched players accomplish spectacular feats on the field. Hood to Coast's approach was through personal story telling of individual teams that competed in the epic 197 mile race from the peak of Mt Hood to the beaches of the Pacific Ocean. The stories ranged from a funny group of aging elite male runners nicknamed themselves "Dead Jock Box" and traveled the race in their van with a "wooden coffin" on top of their roof to "Team R Blo" who ran in memory of their lost son, husband and brother. Ryan died suddenly from a heart complication at the age of 30 days before his 9 month pregnant wife delivered their baby boy. Very emotional piece that runners and non-runners can identify with...worth the ticket!

Exceptional movie/documentary. Having done Hood to Coast, at times it can be difficult to capture all the emotion (elation, excitement, exhaustion, fun, soreness, laughter, camaraderie) that occurs in the relay. It is also hard to explain how the race works. This compilation did it brilliantly with highs and lows, happiness and sorrow. Camera shots were amazing and maps were very helpful to get your bearings on the immensity of the race. Really a great emotional roller coaster. Great comedy too. Would definitely recommend seeing it whether you've participated, volunteered or not!
