The movie is has a good message but lacks in the funny category. Definitely a movie to take the boys (kids) too. The ladies really didn't enjoy the movie too much but I'd wait until the DVD and save your money. We laughed maybe 4 times throughout the film.

Great film to sit back and enjoy a stream of non stop funny. It not so serious nature makes it enjoyable for all ages. We all know this long shot movie is pure fiction but if you came in for a serious film, this is a strike out. Go Watch!

My wife and I saw it together and loved it! Good combo of story with action, humor, romance. Showed compassion and determination. Henry Winkler knows how to put together a great family film.

Boom is the bomb!

When a totally demoralized 42-year-old Biology teacher decides to make his own decision instead of continuing to be a victim of the system, he accomplishes his goal to save his friend's job. Kevin James manages to insert enough humor to keep a rather serious tale light enough for most any audience. He plays the part of the Biology teacher, which is funny in its own right, who goes mixed martial arts, MMA. Some may say this movie is violent, but it is no more violent and no less funny than "Paul Blart Mall Cop". Every grandparent should take every grandchild to see this film where people make their own decisions, think for themselves, and accept the consequences. Boom is a rare movie.

Critics... wow, what some don't understand

I saw this and bought it right after I rented it. The most negative comment I saw occasionally would use the term "far fetched"! Not according to the professional MMA guys who trained him! Mr James is a pretty stout lad and actually took some real HARD blows during filming! They said he took them well too! The main scenes were with MMA current fighters; not stunt guys! Point? They were not so good at missing a punch as stunt men! Especially since they were training themselves for upcoming fights! Kevin James hand speed and movement was real! I was pleasantly shocked! I suggest you critics who think his character was "far fetched" get in the ring with Mr James and see how you look after 1/2 round if he allows you to last that long! I enjoyed his character's motivation. The humor was not abundant but it was present. The music was very good. Don't leave the room when he enters the ring for the last match! I loved that! I think pretty much any age above a young child can enjoy this movie.
