If you're seeing this movie purely for entertainment then you are already on the right track. Its definitely a different take on the Grimm's tale but its a good one. I love Jeremy Renner and he doesn't disappoint in this film. But I think Gemma's Gretal overshadows him. She was really good in this movie and fun to watch. One dim spot is that its predictable but you sort of forget that with all the action scenes. At least until you get to the end and then you're like, "Oh yeah....I knew that would happen". But, they leave it open for a sequel that I will definitely watch. I just might wait for it on DVD instead of the theater experience.

I don't understand why some movies get such low ratings from critics. Its almost as if its not a "life-affirming" movie or if its not the new types of movies that make you wonder what the hell the movie was even about-the critics don't like it.
This movie isn't an award-winning movie by any means but that doesn't mean it isn't entertaining. Its a very neat twist on an old fairy tale. The cast is great & the story is fun. It's what its meant to be....just 90 minutes of entertainment. It has action, suspense, love, witchcraft & a** kicking. I enjoyed it. It isn't for little kids b/c of nudity but it is worth a watch if you like these types of movies! Enjoy!!

Definitely a new twist on the fairy tale, but ... didn't love it. Don't know what I was expecting, but just didn't do it for me. Slightly entertaining but mostly boring. Kinda spoofy. A little corny. Somewhat predictable. A pinch of gory. Glad I had a free ticket.

Ok I get it, Hollywood takes a classic fairy tale and wants to turn it into a action horror comedy thriller. Good concept, poor delivery. Really wanted to like this flick, but unfortunately, the film does not live up to the trailer. Nothing new here, lots of bone crushing and blood gushing fighting action scenes with heads getting chopped off except this time with Witches set in medieval times. Other than some nice eye candy on screen, very little chemistry at all between the leads and nothing that really draws you into the movie to make you want to give a damn about any of these characters. Jeremy Renner seems bored throughout and he wasn't the only one. Save yourself the $$ and catch this one on Cable or VOD or if you go, go with minimum expectations.
