The One...The Only...The Classic...HALLOWEEN!
Often imitated, never duplicated. Halloween is an original in its own right. No, it is not the original slasher film; Psycho had come out a generation before. Nor was it the original stalker film. Texas Chainsaw Massacre came out 4 years before. However, it was the catalyst to the slasher era that carried into the 80's and 90's, and the word Halloween became synonymous to movie horror. Taking place in a middle American town, Haddonfield Illinois, a group of babysitters is stalked by the boogeyman, Michael Myers. In fact, that simple premise was how now legendary director, John Carpenter, pitched the film to the executive producer, the late Moustapha Akkad. The killer, Michael Myers, an unyielding force of death incarnate, became an icon of the horror genre. The legendary Donald Pleasence gave one of his most memorable performances as Myers' doctor, Dr. Sam Loomis. Jamie Lee Curtis launched her impressive career as the vulnerable Laurie Strode.
