Not Perfect, but then again, neither was the original.

    by

Rob Zombie stated that he likes endings, and that Hollywood will usually always try to go after a sequel. That said, Halloween's a great visionary one shot. Halloween takes Carpenter and Hill's story and makes it his own, giving Michael Myers a bit of backstory that fleshed out the character a little more. The shocks are intense, and the deaths are gruesome. There are so many cameos here - Dee Wallace, Udo Kier, William Forsythe, but the three standouts are Sheri Moon Zombie as Mike's Mom, Danny Trejo as the superintendent who befriends Michael, and Danielle Harris, who returns to the Halloween saga as Annie instead of Jamie. She was really great here. The kid who played Michael was also good. Bottom line, It's just a slightly different version of of the original Haddonfield story, and while it does get a little strange near the end, the remake comes across much better than it has a right to, when compared to The Fog or other remakes that have come out recently.

    This is not a remake!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

People need to stop called this fim a remake because it is not. Rob Zombie specifically stated that "this is a retelling of the story and not a remake in anyway shape or form, so please do not compare this film to any of the originals". But what do people do? They keep calling it a remake and judging it based on the original, because they aren't educated enough to do research on a film before they go and see it. Those of you who are out there writing bad reviews and aren't intelligent enough to see past your own superficiallity and shallowness need to shut your mouths. Leave the critiquing to the people who actually eat, sleep, and breath horror movies. I'm not even going to bother writing my review of this film but am now going to use it to bash the morons of this reveiw forum. Some of you bashed this film, simply because it gave the earlier history of Michael Meyers. How does it feel to be that one dimensional? The idea of a complex horror film must make you fell like a simpleton

    Spectacular!

I very much enjoyed this movie, sure there was cursing, and nudity in it, but when you look movies up it tells you what all is in the movie...Eg. Strong Brutal bloody violence and terror throughout, sexual content, graphic nudity and language,,,so with some of the reviews.."This was a terrible movie there was sex and the "f" word my kids were there and yada yada..well you should know using common sense when a movie is not fit for kids...hence why its rated R.....But I thought that it was a spectacular movie, the flow was well done, kept to the point. and Mr. Zombie did a fantastic job, I highly recomend this movie, if your into horror films and dont mind cursing, sexual content...have the mind of an adult, and not be so offended by things of that matter...and for those parents that gave this movie a bad review because their kids watched it too....use common sense and dont bring your kids to a RATED R movie.

Better than original, sheds light on the unaswered questions from the original

First off, for all of the morons that write a review here, giving this a low rating because "it is not appropriate for children due to the sex and blood and gore"...DUH. Any parent that would take their child to see this needs to be slapped!! Don't knock this movie based upon you being an idiot.

That said, THIS MOVIE WAS AWESOME! I saw it the day it came out and was grinning ear to ear the whole time. I even watched the original two days ago for a refresh. This shows how michael became who he is, explains how Dr. Loomis came in, Zombie flipped a couple story lines which it went in fine. My husband and I loved it. We are Zombie fans as well as horror movie fans and this is right up to par. We've been waiting for this movie for over a year and Zombie still has yet to disappoint!

Don't go in expecting things based on the original. Go in expecting MORE and learning MORE than just a kid that was wearing a clown suit just killed his fam and poof he's an adult. KEEP IT UP ZOMBIE!!!!!!!!

Unrelenting and Stark-SEE THIS MOVIE NOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

First off, Variety's Dennis Harvey has NO idea what he is talking about when it comes to this movie, and neither do the other fan naysayers. Spare me the irrational mystique and loose ends of the original. Rob Zombie's version is emotionally harrowing, stark, and unforgiving. It is an improvement on the original in countless ways - its character depth and dev, unrelenting brutality, suspense, tempo, visual style, and the improved physical presence of Myer himself are all greatly welcomed. The exploration of Myer's dysfunctional childhood and his mental collapse into monstrosity alone is noteworthy- it is an absolutely believable scenario that left me chilled. The symbolism of masks and the origin of Micheal's disturbed obsession with them is very resonant- all psychopaths and serial killers mask their true selves in one form or another. I applaud the amped up violence and brutality because it is neither stylized nor overly gory- it is realistic and therefore much more horrific.

    Living Dead Plot

Lacking the original suspense and simplicity of the 1979 version, Rob Zombie's Halloween left much to be desired and made me want to reach for the barf bag at least once. I am a fan of horror and know that blood and gore are sure to abound, but the killings were horrid. With a brutal scene in the first ten minutes of the movie and borderline snuff-film death scenes, this movie was little more than a poorly adapted rip-off, not a recharged re-make. While interesting aspects such as the childhood of Myers and the intro of the heroine as a baby make welcome additions to the plot-line, it was overall not worth the cash. Rental-worthy for sure, but not worth the ticketed price.

    Awesome Film

This film was done very very well. It is probably one of the best re-inventions I have ever seen. Rob Zombie and Cast pulled this movie off very very well. This isn't a gratuitous horror flick like most of the recent ones that have come out, but totally brings back the hidden horror aspect that was captured well in the past. It also has a few good laughs from some of the comments made by the characters to lull you back into a false security, but then backs it up with great shocks and scares. It's been quite a while since I've heard people scream during the movie and not groan with sympathy pains. Bravo Mr. Zombie, Bravo.

    Halloween fan

Me and my husband are huge Halloween fans and were very excited when we heard the news of the new making. We are also fans of Rob Zombie and really liked House of 1000 Corpse and Devils Rejects. We have met the whole cast at the horror convention. We thought Rob Zombie would make it real gory, in which he did, and do a good job. We enjoyed the movie but it just did not stand up to the name Halloween. We thought it was a great movie but it just did not live up to the name. Did anyone else feel this way?

    You Go Zombie!

Dispite a lot of unneeded language I thought this movie was realy well writen and not to gorry. I was worried it was going to turn into a gore fest like Hostle or any of the other new horror movies that have been coming out lately. If you havn't seen it, go, its pretty good

    Halloween

This Movie was not a movie at all.It was more of a porn. If you have kids under 18.I would not advise it.I love horror and I can understand a lil sex in the film but this was rediculous.!There was sex in every scene of this movie. It sucked it was no where near as good as the original Halloweens.Plus, it was not scary at all. I wasted my money and time!

    Blasphemy

It amazes me how today as the body count in horror movies continues to mount and the blood flows freely, how the suspence and terror levels continue to plumit.

Yes, there is a LOT of violence in Zombie's Halloween. Yes, there is a LOT of nudity in Zombie's Halloween. Yes, there is a HELLOVA LOT of profanity in Zombie's Halloween- all elements absent in Carpenters vision. And despite these additions, not once did I jump in my seat. Not once did my wife clutch my arm or hide her eyes (moments which happened quite a few times in the original).

Fan's of Rob Zombie and "new age horror" should be entertained but if you grew up in the 70s/80s, skip it.

    What a Dud

    by edtippy

Waste of good money. Use your money to see a good move. the script could have done better without all the foul mouth and blood and cuts. This was not a good move.

    NO KIDS UDER 18!!!

Just got back from watching Halloween, and it was good. The only thing is my kids won't be able to watch it anytime soon. Not until they turn 18!! It has very, VERY nast parts, and language. I was amazed as to how many parents took their kids to watch this movie. I bet it wasn't fun having to make them turn the other way half of the time. Other than that, the movie made alost everyone jump outta their seats. But as a parent, I would have wanted to see less NASTY parts.
