Half the Sky
Enjoyed learning about disenfranchised women's stories and how they overcame obstacles, but I object to the blatant solicitations from CARE. There were three during the movie!. Get on your cell phone, text and join CARE now! The panel discussion lasted way to long and was not edited well.
This was Marisa Tomei's directing debut. She has a lot to learn. There were way too many closeups, with the camera blurry and fanning, to be comfortable to view. A few would have been effective, but she overdid it. The story that her film told, however, was interesting and well done. Winochet was the girl-victim (of rape) and woman-advocate to change the culture in her village and the law in her country that allows rape without prosecution to continue. Winochet's story is inspiring!
