Deputy Bill Brake (Mort Mills) from Mingo arrives in Dodge to arrest Hank Springer (Vic Perrin) on a murder charge. Insisting that he's been framed by a corrupt lawman, Hank nonetheless agrees to surrender to Brake--on condition that he not be forced to wear handcuffs. Not long afterward, Brake is found stangled to death and Springer vanishes, forcing Matt (James Arness) to track down the fugitive himself. Though Springer leaves a trail of terror in his wake, Matt cannot help but wonder if the man is truly guilty of the crime for which has been charged.
