    Spencer & Kate's Final Triumph

Not only did Stanley Kramer's 1967 GUESS WHO'S COMING TO DINNER provide a lovely final duet for longtime partners ( both on & off camera ) Spencer Tracy and Katharine Hepburn but it also became a classy front-runner in very storied history of Hollywood attempting to bring a controversial theme of race relations to the masses. Ostensibly a filmed stage play, DINNER also was a very entertaining, witty and very thought-provoking film which had the benefit of the marvelous presence of Sidney Poirtier playing the young black man thrust into the lives of the daughter of very liberal parents who suddenly told the pair plan to wed. Controversial for its day, the movie still packs a resounding message in these still racially charged times. Ensemble acting is wonderful here with Tracy & Hepburn's Oscar-winning performances manning the helm!
