How did they do that???!

Everything I'd hoped it would be, and a little more. Apollo 13 + Perfect Storm + 2001. But seriously, short of some secret film shoot in space, how did they do that?? Oscars for everyone.

Saw this in IMAX 3D. BOOM! You really feel like you are in space. There were times I actually felt dizzy and nauseous from "spinning" like Bullock and Clooney were. Great use of 3D, for sure. After seeing this, you couldn't pay me enough to go into space now - HA! I am not an expert in this field so I can't comment on scientific accuracy, but this movie made outer space feel so up close and personal. Sandra Bullock, while not always my fave, was excellent. Highly recommend.

This movie celebrates life on so many levels. It was like being on a rollercoaster ride of life affirmation. I felt so blessed to live on this planet.

Visually Stunning

Definitely go see it in IMAX 3D if you can. While I admit that the story is compelling while you're sitting in the theater, if you read that script without all of those beautiful effects, it would have been just okay. The effects definitely carry this movie. That being said, they are spectacular enough to plunk down $20 for an IMAX ticket rather than waiting for the DVD.

Great IMAX 3D Effects

Wonderful special effects sequences make this an exciting visual experience, somewhat reminiscent of a Stanley Kubrick film. Preposterous story of survival, however, is more like Marvel Comics fiction than science fiction.
